Now watching "Eduard Zimmermann: Meine grössten Fälle" on YouTube.
Eduard Zimmermann was the premier presenter in the German series Aktenzeichen XY... ungelöst -which was the premier 'show' on TV asking for the public's help in solving crime.
I remember watching this with my grandparents as I grew up and still find the very somber way they used to do it quite thrilling -disturbing actually!
The way those 'shows' depicted crimes was chilling, direct and to the point, in such a way that no fictional show ever since has been able to surpass; the eeriness of that matter-of-fact presentation of horrible crimes has just staid with me for all these years.
The lack of (pop-music-)soundtracks and fantasy-effects (their best visual effect was passing a non-clear sheet of glass in front of the camera!) together with a low-key and on-point narration of the filmed segments (the second 'star' of the show was the narrator Wolfgang Grönebaum) made the horror even more real.

I wouldn't have believed it if I weren't sitting here watching something else on YT and happened to notice it starting on tv: they're re-re-re-re-re-running Cheers! -and here I was; thinking Frasier was a show way to old to re-run!

Season 1 was okay. I hear it improves though, which is good, because 'okay' wouldn't cut it for the 5 more seasons of viewing I have ahead of me.
