Green Lantern Emerald Knights (DCU Animated Movie) News

Hey now ... did Whedon retain rights to his un-used "Wonder Woman" script? MAybe get together with Timm, and bring in some Whedon actors ... make an animated thing out of it.

Hey now ... did Whedon retain rights to his un-used "Wonder Woman" script? MAybe get together with Timm, and bring in some Whedon actors ... make an animated thing out of it.

The Bruce Timm-produced DC Universe Animated Original Movies on DVD already include a Wonder Woman film, which was written by Michael Jelenic and Gail Simone and directed by Lauren Montgomery. It starred Keri Russell as Wonder Woman and Nathan Fillion as Steve Trevor.

^ An abortive Wonder Woman movie?

To be honest, even though I love Whedon, I'm not sure if he would have done WW justice. That's not to say that I was sure he wouldn't, either.

My sentiment came from Whedon's expressional love for Marvel characters, and from this quote of his regarding the DC characters:

MTV said:
"With that one big exception (Batman), DC's heroes are from a different era," Whedon recently told Maxim Magazine when asked why the publisher had so much trouble bringing its iconic characters to the big screen. "DC's characters, like Wonder Womanhttp://splashpage.mtv.com/tag/wonder-woman and Supermanhttp://splashpage.mtv.com/tag/superman and Green Lantern, were all very much removed from humanity. Batman was the only character they had who was so rooted in pain, that had that same gift that the Marvel characters had, which was that gift of humanity that we can relate to."

Here's a description from DC:

With stories by acclaimed writers including Geoff Johns, Alan Burnett and Dave Gibbons, this DC Universe Animated Original Movie explores the rich mythology of the Green Lantern universe through six interlocking chapters. While awaiting a battle with Krona, an ancient enemy of the Guardians of the Universe, Earth’s Green Lantern Hal Jordan, Kilowog, Sinestro and other members of the Green Lantern Corps recount their greatest adventures to new recruit Arisia – everything from tales of the first Lantern to the ominous events that led to the Corps’ Blackest Night!

Green Lantern: Emerald Knights Trailer

I'm suddenly more interested in this than I previously was. The epic music in the trailer helps.

As reported previously the film's voice cast stars: Nathan Fillon (Hal Jordan), Jason Issacs (Sinestro) , Elizabeth Moss (Arisisa Rrab, Kelly Hu (Laira), Henry Rollins (Kilowog), Roddy Piper (Bolphunga), Arnold Vosloo (Abin Sur), Wade Williams (Deegan), and Michael Jackson (not that one) as Gauntlet.

Re: Green Lantern: Emerald Knights Trailer

Sinestro Corps! looks very good.

Re: Green Lantern: Emerald Knights Trailer

Neat. And that was Kelly Hu's lovely voice reciting the first half of the oath, even though they showed Arisia during it. Just goes to show you can't trust trailer editing.

"Six interlocking stories?" Interesting. I wonder how they interlock.

Re: Green Lantern: Emerald Knights Trailer

Don't know how they interlock but they did show Abin Sur and normal Sinestro, and the Sinestro Corps so maybe the stories are wide spread through various points of history.

Re: Green Lantern: Emerald Knights Trailer

Was that Laira in the trailer, or is she supposed to be a different Lantern?

Re: Green Lantern: Emerald Knights Trailer

Yes that was Laira in the trailer as I indicated in my first post. She's voiced by Kelly Hu. :)

Re: Green Lantern: Emerald Knights Trailer

D'oh. That's what I get for reading with a tired brain. ;)

Re: Green Lantern: Emerald Knights Trailer

This has, HAS to lead into an eventual cartoon Blackest Night!

Re: Green Lantern: Emerald Knights Trailer

diffently looks good I just wished they would have added GUY GARDNER TO IT .
DIE HARD green lantern fan looking forward to this and to the live action movie.

LONG LIVE THE CORP !!!!
