Why "Star Trek" is not right...

But we don't see him hit the bulkhead or catch fire. He's not a dead body in the same way that Kirk in GEN and Spock in TWOK were, being a corpse in plain sight.

That entire scene, which is rather quick, does show him being slammed into the navigators console and the very next seen is the ship exploding. That is enough evidence to be certain that George Kirk was killed in that instant.

Although Star Trek as a franchise does have a habit of not allowing dead people to stay dead I think until they resurrect him we can be pretty certain he is dead.

After watching this movie for 3 times I have noticed several discrepancies in the first 30 minutes alone. When the Narada first exits the "black hole" or " lightning storm", It attacks the Kelvin with no provocation let alone it being a vessel that it is closest to. Why is that? With all the 24th century sensors (And with all the gushers need to include Borg tech from the comic) It didn't know it was dealing with a Federation starship from almost 200 years ago?
2. In the TOS era, Spock's and Sarek's separation from each other was because Spock chose entering Starfleet rather than entering the Vulcan Science Academy, which is what Sarek wanted him to do. Why on gods green earth would Sarek tell him to follow his emotions?
3. I understand some of the "time" indomitableness and faves of the so-called director, but why the "Beastie Boys" and that annoying NOKIA ringtone. I for one WOULD NOT be listening to them 100 years for now...if I was still kicking..;)

A question : does a fishing boat has the data about the world war 2 warship in their computer these days? Maybe one or two, but not all of them. It is not their standard equipment. So I guess that apply to the 24th century also. Drill ship doesn't need the information about military starship. The Enterprise is exception as Spock is still around and he has a personal grudge against him.

How do you know it didn't? Nero seemed vengeful against the Federation, based on his actions in the rest of the film.

That guy was brilliant.

From the comments...

"Big movie big effects and action which the other films lacked except the first 4 films and STNG First Contact
-Some user"

"and thank God they lacked them ST was never about big fucking effects that is brainless junk
-Some other user"

"Yeah, look at Star Trek 5! Hardly any effects...
214scifi"

He is most obviously the most PRO 2009 fan throwing his "empty" DVD cases around like he does to ridicule the people that don't like the "Crap Trek" movie...although he is Hilarious from an assinine POV.

Confirmed as some of his "reviews" on YouTube...;)

No, I didn't listen to the review.... (I think the point of Dennis' post was to show an actual ST nerd who lives up to the stereotype; and everything that goes with that stereotype).

*whew*

Looking through the guy's videos I'm pretty sure it's a put-on. He plays a couple of characters.

It's hard to tell sometimes - deliberately so. A fellow named "Morris Irvine" posted a couple of links to his movie Cosmosis here last year - eventually it turns out that he doesn't exist, either.

This.

No doubt next, some would have me believe that the destruction of Vulcan can also be reversed and two disperate universes merged back together as if nothing had ever happened.

They should show that they are no longer under the yoke of canon and have Vulcan back in place with no word of explanation.

Nope, keep everything else the same, just don't mention why Vulcan is back. Kirk would still be Captain, Uhura would still be banging her instructor, Scotty would still be aboard and jabbering away. The rest would be the same but Vulcan would be back.

Except that, you know, they don't actually need Vulcan for anything.

Vulcans are nice to have about for story purposes, and they've thoughtfully conserved a few thousand.

I don't know about that. I'm sure there's a story where Vulcan would be very cool.

Similarly, having George Kirk around and serving under his son and seeing how awesome he turned out would be great.

A good series idea would be to have a couple of those new Constitution class ships on the specific mission to locate the lost Vulcan colonies scattered around the Alpha Quadrant. Having Earth rebuilding Vulcan's legacy would be an interesting take on things, particularly if you take ENT into account...
