Which year is it set? After DESTINY in 2382 or before?

If this post from august is still valid, than after Typhon Pact:

I hate repeating myself from thread to thread, but USS Challenger = Captain Geordi? I can't remember exactly what year STO/Needs of the Many put Geordi's promotion, but it was after Countdown in 2387 - I wonder what timeframe Magic's version will be set?

About three months after the last Typhon Pact book.

Are there any other TNG crew that are in the book cameo or otherwise say like old baldy(Picard) or the bearded one(Riker) or the dude with the bumpy forehead (Worf)... Etc, etc.....

It starts on the Enterprise, so you'll be seeing Picard, Worf, Becerly etc before Geordi boards the Challenger.

Unless Pocket have changed something in the galley proofs, it's set from about February 2383

Current setup is 2382 as far as I know which means that if you have it set in 2383, what happened to that long gap in between your story and after the TP?

Oh and why does Geordi need to temporarily transfer (It is temporary right)? to the Challenger? What's different there that he can't do on Enterprise.

I assume he's being detached for a special mission. It's happened before in Trek.

Nothing special, and it's only a gap of about three or four months, AFAIK
