Best acted Janeway episode

Yeah, but that wasn't the first time Mulgrew had done that on a Voyager episode, and Ryan did it once as well.

I'm drawing a blank, when did Ryan do it.

"Relativity"

It's a short scene in the mess hall during a table tennis tournament.
I love that scene due to Neelix.
Even though everyone is stunned by the temperal annomally, he still marks the ball as being out.

Best acted ep. by Mulgrew:
Sacred Ground
Counterpoint
Basics
Tuvix
11:59 (While not really a "Janeway" ep., Mulgrew does a excellent job playing Shannon O'Donnell)

Yeah, the illusion is perfect. I couldn't tell that Mulgrew was acting against nothing. She always says how difficult it was filming those Captain/Adm. scenes.

Right, she'd done it in "Deadlock" and I loved that scene as well!!!

It's more than just an illusion, its also that she's acting with the older age makeup without going OTT. It's so perfect a performance it makes the normal Janeway slightly inconsequential (not sure that's a good thing or not!) it's the Admiral's show.

OT but I have something similar with Return Of Jedi. Part of me just can't accept Ian McDiarmid was in his 30's when he first played the old Emperor. So callous and bitter.

Loved: Death Wish, 37s, Killing Game, Barge of the Dead (liked the interaction between J and B'Elanna) and I know there are more but that's off the top of my head.

That's why the ep is on my short list to take with me to that deserted island.

(You know the old question, "if you were going to be alone on a deserted island for the next 10 years and you could only bring 100 books, tv shows/movies with you, which ones would they be.")

^^^ Sounds like a new thread!!

Kate Mulgrew is FANTASTIC.

Deadlock and Endgame were Oscar worthy as far as Mulgrew's acting.

I felt Coda was also well done.
Bride of Chaotica is genius. She was adorable. Kate mulgrew playing Captain Janeway playing Arachnia Queen of the Spider People... All 4 I would take with me to that island.

I'm too old and undedicated to bring them all to mind at once.

But I gotta say, I'm quite fond of Course: Oblivion.

Not a popular choice, I know.

I'd probably say Deadlock. Endgame was fab too, Mulgrew plays Janeway's heroic deaths well. Maybe that's why there were so many Janeway deaths.

I've always found Mulgrew to be a little melodramatic in her death scenes. She always does that "OMG, I've been shot in the stomach" pose when she does a death scene.

I've always said Mulgrew over acts, but that's part of the fun of watching her.

I think she pulled off giving that incredibly corny last line in "Year of Hell" pretty well all things considered. I mean, no matter which way you cut it, that was a bad line, but she delivered it well because, I think in part, she is such a ham.

I don't say she over acts. I say she's theatrical and it fits Voyagers campy style perfectly. Deadlock wasn't a theatrical death scene though, I like the way she calmly says to the Vidiians "Welcome to the bridge"

Counterpoint immediately springs to mind. There are other well acted episodes, but Counterpoint is superb from start to finish.

The final scene in Prime Factors always knocks me for six, but I don't think her character solidified for me until we saw her go through hell in Year of Hell. I think a lot of episodes that came after that were formed by her performance in that one.

Those are my votes.

What a year. When I think of that ep, my mind goes to that final Bridge scene where we DON'T see Mama Janeway comforting/saying goodbye to the foster children (Seven, B'Elanna, Harry).

We see Sister Janeway, say a heartfelt goodbye to her big brother, who was blinded in his service to Voyager and we see another Janeway (I'll leave that to your imagination, I know who I see .) standing alone on the bridge, holding the pocket watch and looking at the XO's seat that has been unoccupied for 187 days.

"This is one year I'd like to forget!"

The final scene in Prime Factors

The one that does me in is the final scene of "Tuvix", when she's walking down the hallway from sickbay, alone.

It always struck me as odd that he gave her a pocket watch designed for a man. There are such things as a lady's pocket watch. They are quite lovely, and I think they would actually fit Kathryn's personality better given her leanings toward Victorian era things.

I don't know why, but that was always a distraction for me.
