I'm pretty sure Thor is gonna suck!

I thought the Comic-Con clips looked extremely mediocre.

People be harping on about the dude playing Thor is 6'3", well i dont care, he doesn't look intimidating, he looks like a big dummy.
:rofl::rofl:

Look at him, what a big scary man

terrible casting

The most charitable response I can provide is that perhaps you are a pre-teen individual who has learned how to post on here? If you are a teenager or adult then you are simply a complete idiot.

Infraction for flaming. Comments to PM

You may be a pre-teen but that doesn't mean you're not onto something. I also think it's gonna suck too because:

1. No Don Blake - that destroys a big part of the story.

2. The clips of Asgard are too mundane looking. It should not look like anyplace that is conceivable on Earth. It looks like a damn soundstage for a Busby Berkeley musical!

3. The clips show Thor clumping around looking like a WWF wrestler. There's nothing grand, awesome or godlike about him. He looks like he could be an extra on Sons of Anarchy.

This.

Thor needs to learn humility, so Odin tosses him onto Earth where he's stronger than anyone else on the planet? That does not make sense.

After stripping him of his Power.

I imagine that means he's been rendered no stronger than human, but he still has centuries of fighting experience and know-how, which gives him enough edge to whup-ass on S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.

But they obviously caught him anyhow, which tells me he's just a guy on Earth. A big guy, still a tough bastard by human standards, and more knowledgeable than most, but no longer godly. So he can be stopped, he can be captured and killed. He doesn't have the strength to lift the hammer because he's no longer Worthy. He'll have to Earn it back, and that's where the humility comes in.

Not that I would have minded the Don Blake story where he lives a life as a lame human who can only walk with a cane, who goes on to become a physician and spends his time helping others heal.

^ That is essentially correct...and yes I was reminded of "He-Man" as well and it had me salivating at the potential of a properly done MOTU flick.

It actually looks much better than I had hoped for. I thought this from that interview link was interesting:

Question: Natalie, you’ve done big movies before like the Star Wars prequels, how does a movie like Thor compare?
Natalie Portman: It actually was a very different experience, because our (her and Kat Dennings) section was on Earth there was very little blue screen work that we did. Also Ken [Branagh] is such an incredible actor and director for actors that it was a very different experience to have someone give such attention to character and performance on a movie of this scale.

The thing that bugged me about the Comic-Con trailer was how much the movie looks like "Masters Of The Universe." :lol:

Inevitable since both used the Kirby design aesthetic.

Ah - Kirby was into plastic, cheap-looking armor and hammy performances on huge unconvincing sets? Pardon me, I thought he worked in comics.

Somehow it all looks so much better in the comics, especially if you are twelve when you are reading them. ;) For movies aimed at least partially at an adult audience, they really need to rethink things.
If it's played for camp like Flash Gordon, it might be passable, though.

That would be a grotesque admission of failure. I certainly hope it's at least not intentionally campy.

Nice trailer

Still not sold on the movie especially the visual design. I always pictured Asgard like Norse villages back then.. lots of stone, leather, wood and such. Think Lord of the Rings.

However this visual style looks more like it is "designed" for lack of a better description.. it is too sleek, modern looking and doesn't bear any resemblance to Norse mythology and the times those myths were part of human life.

However this may only be a small gripe.. what it all comes down is story and actors. If it is well written and well acted/directed the visual style becomes secondary as opposed to the Star Wars prequels where the exact opposite was the case (which Ms. Portman said so well.. nice dig at Lucas :lol:).

We'll see in less than a year..

P.S.

We got some awesome one liners after seeing Mjolnir in the added scene of Iron Man 2

"It's hammertime!"
"By Grabtar's Hammer!"

:lol::lol:

He looked really mean in A Perfect Getaway. He had a great bod too.
