The Invisible Monkey & PETA

Though I am far from being nutty like the PETA people (for a start I eat meat) I do not like to see chimps, orangutans etc used for entertainment.

Hell, Dodge didn't go nearly far enough in their response to those PETA assholes. They should have done a commercial showing someone EATING a chimp.

And a chimpanzee isn't a monkey, it's an ape.

If PETA expects me to take them seriously about this, they need to get some actresses to pose naked. I recommend Linda Park or Gina Torres.

Am I dense, an idiot, or both? I don't see the problem with the commercial. It's a monkey setting off confetti. What's the problem?

Probably more than the butcher shop paid the cow I just ate for dinner. And in bananas too!

Just so we're all clear, the joke here is that there was apparently no monkey used in the original ad either. Peta was objecting to a computer generated chimp, something they should be supporting (as it doesn't use real animals).

^ Just goes to prove that the idiots at PETA have a collective case of fecal encephalopathy, i.e., shit for brains.

The only Peta I want to have anything to do with is this one!

Doesn't surprise me PETA would object to even virtual animals being used. But then I also don't believe PETA has animals care at heart either and are just looking for money and publicity.

Question: Was it a virtual chimp, or did they digitally erase a real one?

(Not that it matters. PETA is still a bunch of whiny hippies.)

I don't like them using babies in commercials and science has proven babies are about as smart as chimps and gorillas. Those talking baby commercials are freeky.

How is having chimps in showbusiness any different than other animals liek cats and dogs. The animals do need to be taken care of and I don't condone abuse, but it is better to be a monkey in Hollywood than bushmeat in africa.

a) Cats and dogs are domesticated animals while chimps are not. Cats and dogs have been breed to cope with more stress than a wild animal. Cats and dogs are calm compared to their wild counterparts, this isn't true of chimps.
b) The chimps used in showbusiness have nearly always been forcibly removed from their mothers, usually they have seen their mothers killed.
c) Once they are no longer babies (at about 5 years old), chimps become very hard to manage. They become much stronger than a human and can become quite dangerous. They live to be 60 years old and a sanctuary usually has to be found for the adult chimp or else the chimp has to be destroyed.
d) Cats and dogs are not an endangered species, chimpanzees are. One of the reasons in the drastic drop in chimp numbers in the wild is illegal capture of babies for the pet trade. These captures nearly always involve the death of the mother and usually other adults who try to protect the infant.

PETA is nothing more than a bunch of bitter, shrill, ignorant, and self-hating anorexic hippies with nothing in their hearts or lives but disdain towards themselves for being born human. Nothing they say is worthy of any attention. If you want a organization that actually works to help animals, follow the Humane Society or ASPCA.

Now I'm gonna go have me a Big Mac.

^ That's what I've said for years. The established, mainstream animal-welfare organizations like the American Humane Association and ASPCA actually help animals. The only thing PETA is good for is outrageous stunts, extremist philosophy, and keeping their name in the headlines.

Now I'm off to get me a take-out barbecue dinner with six different kinds of meat.
