Three DC Universe animated movies announced at Comic-Con for 2011

Warner Home Video usually likes to keep the title of each DC Universe movie under wraps for as long as possible, but they've broken from that habit and announced the full slate of movies scheduled for release in 2011. They are:

First quarter: All-Star Superman
Summer: Green Lantern: Emerald Knights
Fall: Batman: Year One

In addition there'll be a DC Showcase compilation release, which will be discussed at the Showcase panel today.

They're making All-Star Superman? Awesome! Although how do you condense it to 70-odd minutes? They'd probably have to skip over a lot of the "labors" and concentrate on the core story.

I just read All Star Superman, it is pretty cool. Looking forward to all three, though the GL First Flight movie was a disappointment.

These sound good, but I don't get all the love, and I've seen it from almost all corners, for All-Star Superman. I read it, but I didn't find it all that impressive,and I am not a fan of Quitley's style.

I don't think it's the most amazing thing ever made but it was pretty entertaining. I particularly liked the issue where Lex and Clark are in a prison riot and it shows the fallacy of Luthor's philosophy while he's completely blind to it. While I'm not a raving Grant Morrison fan I will admit he writes some really creative and intelligent dialogue.

This is awesome news...especially about All-Star Superman which is one of my favorite all time Superman stories and it's coming first quarter too which I guess will put the release date sometime before April 2011. I'm eager to see who they pick for the voice casts for these now. I agree with Christopher regarding how they're going to do the twelve labors...they probably will just focus on the core of the story. I kind of would like to see Tom Welling voice Superman/Clark Kent for some reason. I dunno why. I just like he'd match they're mandate for different talent. Animating Frank Queitly's work is going to be interesting to see too.

The pattern so far has been a release in late February/early March, a release in July, and a release in September. These three releases should follow that same release pattern, with the exception of a likely June release for Green Lantern: Emerald Knights to coincide with the feature film.

I read online that the Batman and Superman ones do. There isn't much about the other heroes.

No, please. Whatever assets Welling might arguably bring to the role, vocal skills are not among them.

For All-Star Superman (a title that's infamously acronym-proof), you need someone who can capture the flavor of a Silver Age Superman, earnest and endearingly corny, but can also bring depth and heart to it. How about Matt Keeslar? He was letter-perfect as a corny, earnest superhero type in The Middleman.

All-Star Superman is full of win. Very excited for that one. I really hope they can capture that same wacky, charming tone from the comics.

I think "HUSH" and "The Long Halloween" would be interesting future projects.

Ofcourse both are basically origins so it's either one or the other

No, it's not a sequel. It's reportedly an anthology about the early days of the Corps.

Of these I'm probably most interested in All Star, simply because I wasn't wowed with the first GL and I've already read year one.
