Green Lantern - Ryan Reynolds costume revealed!

:(i not like ryan playing GL! i like the suit from the 1960"s! you know when he 1st become Green Lantern! in which the movie take place! where are the white grife! and the black which is part of the suit this all wrong! 3000 male actor and all they could get the smart ass from the last xman movie! i been reading comic for 35 year and i love green lantern! and this is not GL bye i think i want for the dvd!

Yes, Hindsight Lad is an Olympic level athlete, at the Chess Olympics.

(I read the new comics, so why do the old pop references just seems more real to me?)

I think Ryan Reynolds looks exactly like Green Lantern should. IMHO his look is a combination of all the Green Lanterns. That way they dont have to get into explaining why there were so many different GL's. And why they die so easily...
The suit looks great. I think it will look MUCH better on the screen and in motion. But the mask looks like a 3rd grader photoshopped it on. The top and bottom edges are not sharp and defined enough. Looks like they took the clone stamp tool and grabbed some green from the suit and coloured his face in...

We've seen Green Lantern before on the World's Finest trailer when he and Wonder Woman were beating on Superman... Classic costume, with just the fabric and it looked good.

Where's the youtube ( I saw some of it. Adam West and friends.) link to that 70s live stageplay show of the Legion of Doom vs the Suepr Friends? How did Green Lantern look in that? Was he even involved?

I don't have to wait until the movie comes out... I have seen the photo, and made my judgment. It was obviously close enough to what we will see that the PTB allowed the magazine to print it on the cover.

I know exactly what you mean. It looks so fucking stupid.

That leather is horrible, and it does NOT look like the comic. This X-Men movie is gonna' fail and it'll be the last we see of them for a long time. Thanks for failing us Bryan Singer!

I don't like the "flayed alive" look, but I'm kinda surprised that people are:

1. Bitching about the mask---I'm astonished that they kept it, instead of putting him in some kind of *KEWL!* helmet or some crap.

2. They're griping that Reynolds doesn't look like Jordan---the Silver Age GL's been around what, 40 or 50 years? He's been drawn by about a zillion artists, only half of whom seemed to understand the phrase "on model". Reynolds is a very pretty young white man who is neither a dwarf nor a giant, and doesn't have curly blond hair or long red hair or anything else too far afield. We should be happy he's not a bald, half-Asian/half black lesbian in a wheelchair. ;)

And BTW, the photos of Hector Hammond, pre-transformation, are interesting. They took an actor who looks nothing like Hector, and made him up to look just like Hector. They changed his hairline, the color and texture of his hair, gave him a porn 'stache....the movie folks went to alotta trouble to make the actor look like a drawing by Gil Kane or Curt Swan. Is this an indication of at least some degree of fealty to the source material? Hmmm....

It's not an actual mask that he puts on.

I doubt the movie will take place in the 1960s. Niether Iron Man film took place in the 60s. And none of the recent Superman or Batman films took place in the 1930s.

why do you even need lights on your suit? .

Er, he's Green Lantern. And lanterns are glowy things that emit light.

Why does Batman have pointy ears? Why does Daredevil have horns on his head?

It's kind of built into the concept . . .

Entertainment Weekly really sucks. They make all their money on getting these early shots of such and such a actor in such and such a costume long before anyone else, but it's never really an accurate representation of what they will look like. When Quinto and Pine were on the cover prior to the last Trek film, they looked off, a little too slick, a little too 'shopped! I hate EW.

Entertainment Weekly covers aren't really a good representation of the suit we'll see in the movie. Just look at iron man's cover

The chest piece for the mark 4 was not what we got in the movie

You know, I could get into a Green Lantern period piece film. It worked (albeit ten years earlier) in that one where they ripped off Golden Age a bit and fought that giant floating island alien thing.

If you mean Justice League: The New Frontier, it didn't rip off The Golden Age. It was an adaptation of Darwyn Cooke's DC: The New Frontier.

There might be a few exceptions like Bubble Boy(?) from the Legion of the 24th century. I mean, an action hero's got to be pretty fit to kick some bad guy's ass.

That would be Bouncing Boy. But, yeah, he has his own unique physique!

It's not really a ripoff--I was kidding/hyperbolizing about that--but I got the vibe Cooke was inspired by it. On the other hand, it's not nearly as good, so maybe he should have ripped it off. :p

I think DC: The New Frontier is a great comic - equal to or better than The Golden Age - but to each his own.

The mask was indeed photoshopped in for the EW cover.

New Details On Green Lantern!
A new article has surfaced revealing details on the movies, plot, which characters make it in, and even the details of potential sequels!

WARNING! Possible spoilers abound!

Omelete, a Brazilian entertainment site, has released several new tidbits regarding the specifics of how both the upcoming Green Lantern movie AND a possible Green lantern film trilogy will be panning out! Despite the fact that the site is in Portuguese, translations have revealed the following!

1) The film will be based mainly on "Secret Origins".

2) The CGI of the suit seen on the Entertainment Weekly cover is not finished.

3) The mask was photoshopped in. The real mask will look more physical and not spray-painted on his face.

4) 25 alien Green Lanterns, each with a different energy signature, were designed for major and minor roles in the movie.

5) A key-scene in the third act will feature all the 3.600 Green Lanterns.

6) Parallax's origin is different from the comics.

7) Sinestro's mustache is definitely in. His look was based mainly on Ivan Reis' drawings (currently pencilling Green Lantern vol. 4)

8) Writers have already outlined ideas for the second and the third movie, which include Sinestro's downfall; The Sinestro Corps War; the destruction of Coast City; Hal Jordan becoming Parallax and etc.

9) One of the main alien Green Lanterns is a completelly original character and his design was created by Ivan Reis.

Wow! Lots of interesting things we got here! What do YOU guys make of them?
