Man dies watching Twilight: Eclipse

I read the books, appreciated them as cheesy teen romance novels... had fun listing the differences and similarities between the Twilight vampires and the Anne Rice vampires (both can look at crucifixes), but haven't seen the movies. I've actually been driven a little nuts by the promos... I live in the Seattle area... Need I say more?

I still fail to see where the "rommance" is in these things considering all of the misogyny and all.

At least the soundtrack for these movies has been improving

That's really sad to hear.

THANK YOU. I'm glad *someone* managed to overcome the urge to make a snide remark about this.

Say what you want about Twilight, (and I have, believe me) but first and foremost this is a tragedy. He was a kid. Dead at 23 years old. That's never a laughing matter.

There's always one, isn't there?

One what? One person who has expressed feelings of sadness toward someone's untimely death? I don't get the rolleyes. You don't agree that it's sad? You dislike the idea of someone expressing some human empathy toward another formerly living being who has died? What certifies the rolleyes? Doubleoh makes a good point. Out of all these remarks, some snide, some just off the cuff, only one person actually related the feeling of sadness toward the death of a young homeless man.

Now, others may have felt it and just expressed it through humor, that's normal, but the rolleyes? I don't get the rolleyes. Do you really object? Do you really have a problem with it, and if so, why? Are you upset that someone interrupted the fun times you were having surrounding the death of this 23 year old homeless guy, the hilarity in dying at a movie theater?

Perhaps you should think about what he said. Maybe he's making a good point and you should listen.

^I haven't made jokes about the man's death. My sympathy for him goes without saying.

Of course, if you want me to, I can go on a rant about how western society abandons young men to homelessness. That'll make the thread much better, I'm sure.

And the response is a picture of a cyclist being killed by a drunk driver? :guffaw:

Next up... some... humorous...holocaust...pics......maybe?

Note my specific, pointed directions to the guy who rolled his eyes. You didn't roll your eyes.

Your comments and doubleohfive's seem more directed towards the general tone of the thread to me - how we're not all expressing our sympathy towards the man who died rather than using the opportunity to take the piss out of Twilight.

I find it poignant that he must have been there alone; otherwise, his friends or date would have noticed. I hate going to movies by myself, and now I have one more reason to.

This doesn't look to me like a picture of a cyclist being killed by a drunk driver; it looks like a picture of FIFTEEN cyclists being killed by a drunk driver. Give or take. And as both a driver and a cyclist myself, may I say: "BAD driver! BAD!"

I somehow doubt that the fact that he went to the movies on his own is the root cause of his death. I suspect there's some underlying medical condition here, but as he was homeless it's possible that he did not have access to suitable medical care.

There's a follow up story here.

I would imagine that in New Zealand a homeless person would be easily able to access free health care.

Maybe his death was drug related?
