I'm sure there's a list of these somewhere so if you know where it is, point it out to me. If not, this can be the list.

I was watching First Contact on DVD over the weekend and I remembered the conversation from Voyager between Harry, B'elanna and Seven, with Harry and B'elanna quizzing each other about the name of Cochrane's ship and Seven answering the question, then dodging how she knows the answer.

So it got me to wondering how many times, across any of the series or films, is an event from another series or film specifically referenced?

Scotty references several events from TOS episodes in the TNG ep Relics.

Spiralling down towards Psi 2000 in The Naked Time, that Troyan bitch from Elaan of Troyius complaining about her quarters.

There were probably a few others in this ep too that I'm not recalling..

In The Way of the Warrior Sisko mentions the Enterprise's destruction in Generations.
In Bar Association, after apprehending a buglar in his quarters, Worf says this sort of thing wouldn't have happened on the Enterprise, to which Odo responds by listing off numerous security violations that did occur on the Enterprise.

In In Purgatory's Shadow Sisko mentions the Bort attack in First Contact.

In ENT's Twilight, humans are living on Ceti Alpha V.

Picard and Riker discuss Sarek's accomplishments including the Babel Conference and the Coridan admission into the Federation.

Coridan is also mentioned as being attacked during the Dominion War and the Vulcans and Andorians used it. The Vulcans propping up the government and the Andorians supporting the rebels.

In TNG "The Naked Now" the crew read about the TOS Episode "The Naked Time".

In a Voyager episode (can't remember which), Janeway says that Kirk "claimed to have met" Da Vinci, but "the evidence is less than conclusive" (I personally loved hearing that Kirk's adventures are treated with a pinch of salt by later generations)

Voyager "Quinn" features Riker. Don't remember if he says anything.

There are Khitomer STVI references in TNG "Unification".

Enterprise hints very obviously about numerous future-Trek concepts and events, from the formation of the Federation to forshadowing the creation of Data. They also "de-bumpy" Klingon heads in "Affliction"/"Divergence", which links to TOS Klingons and DS9's "Trials and Tribble-ations"

Nothing too direct, but Spock Prime hints about his Kirk's past timeline tampering in STXI, and his quest to make young Kirk and Spock friends is, of course, based on his and Kirk's friendship in TOS and the TOS movies.

Oh yeah, and Enterprise's finale "These Are the Voyages" takes place concurrenty with TNG's "The Pegasus" (albeit with aged actors!)

That episode was titled "Death Wish". And Riker did have some lines.

Then there was the groan inducing line at the end of "Regeneration":

Sounds to me like we've only postponed the invasion until what - the 24th century?

In Relics, Scotty mentions the "wee bit of trouble" he had on Argalius (Wolf in the Fold).

In Trials and Tribbleations, the Temperal cop mentions a sixth Enterprise. This was shortly prior to the introduction of the Enterprise-E.

The Stone of Gol, from TNG's Gambit was a direct reference to TMP's Mountains of Gol, where Spock underwent Kholinar, although the mountain range was never mentioned in the flick. For that matter, Tuvok underwent Kholinar at some point. I don't remember the episode.

There was , of course, the entire episode with Sulu and the Excelsior. And in Star Trek First Contact, a USS Bozeman is mentioned. I've heard that they used Kelsey Grammar's voice, but I don't know.

In Relics, Scotty mentions the "wee bit of trouble" he had on Argalius (Wolf in the Fold).
Scotty surrounded by a crowd in Ten-Forward. "Aye, and then there was the time on Argalius, where they found me standing over this murdered stripper, with a bloody knife in me hand." The crowd slowly disperses.

In terms of cross-overs. I wonder about the TNG episode "The Royale" The episode takes place in the Hotel Royale, much of it in the casino. It's based on a bad book. Then there is the multiple movies/book Casino Royale, partly set in the Hotel Royale, in the casino. It's based on a bad book.

But that would be a cross-over with James Bond.

There are way too many of them to list. Here's one I was reminded of yesterday - I saw a bit of TNG S3 "The Price" on SciFI channel, which I think that's the first time they mentioned stable and unstable wormholes... in that episode, some Ferengis end up in the Delta Quadrant. I thought "Ah, so that's where those Ferengis from VOY "False Profits" came from!"

In Trials and Tribbleations, the Temperal cop mentions a sixth Enterprise. This was shortly prior to the introduction of the Enterprise-E.

This could actually be looked at two ways now. That the agent was referring to six ships being 1701, A, B, C, D and E (having just been launched) OR, it could be prior to launch and he's referring to NX-01, as the first ship and 1701-D as the sixth.

Admittedly, NX-01 hadn't been concieved at the time, but now it could be read either way, and saying first that there were 5 ships was a simple mistake, that makes the characters seem a little more human.

Oh yeah, one of my favourite little nods to another series was Tuvok appearing as one of the rebels in DS9's mirror universe.

Funny, I was actually thinking that very thing.

One of my favorite crossovers, which is completely non-canon since it's in one of the novels, is the book Ishmael, which combines Star Trek with the old western series from the 60s, Here Come the Brides. I love it just because it is the most unlikely show to combine with a sci-fi show like Trek.

*Ahem* They could have meant Archer's Enterprise

The intent at the time was the Enterprise E. It would make sense, this part of the episode takes place in 2373, and First Contact (which also takes place in that year) establishes that the Enterprise E was launched in 2372 (when Geordi says they've been in space for a year now).

Besides, they were likely referring to Federation starships named Enterprise, since Sisko clarifies that the Enterprise he discovered was "the first one, Constitution class." The NX-01 was decommissioned before the Federation was founded, and therefore would not be considered a Federation starship.

^Sisko didn't say the first Federation ship named Enterprise, just the first as in a starship named Enterprise.

Why would they not count Archer's Enterprise. It would be an important part of their history, as the first Warp Five ship who made contact with the Romulans and the Klingons (Archer went to the homeworld and met the governing body). The French-Indian War, The Pilgrims, Jamestown and the Spainards in the Southwest are considered part of US history (I learned about those in US history back in high school) even though our country did not exist yet when these things occured.

So I don't get the whole "Archer's Enterprise is not part of the Federation" thing.

Would we count a British Navy ship from the 1760s as part of the American Navy?

Because it literally wasn't part of the Federation. Go back and watch TATV, it was decommissioned just before the Federation was founded. It was never in active service when the Federation existed, therefore it is not a Federation starship.

Is the Phoenix a Federation starship? Are NASA shuttles considered Federation spacecraft? The obvious answers are no, and the same logic applies to the NX-01.
