Star Trek Toys-Sale and Question

Rumor has it that Playmates have put the 2009 movie figures on hold, due to lack of sales. I would seen to be true, because of the mark down of the figures.
It's no rumor. The big three US toy retailers (Toys R' Us, Wal-mart, and Target) all told Playmates to go take a flying leap after flooding them with multiple waves of Wave 1 toys that stopped selling the moment the movie came out. Marking them down was the only way they could get rid of 'em and that made them take a pass on Wave 2. That pretty much stopped Playmates in their tracks to the point they couldn't even go into mass-production with it, forcing most online retailers to cancel preorders.

Last I heard was that Playmates was still committed to their Star Trek line and was trying to come up with some way that people could get their hands on Wave 2 stuff, but that was back in November or December of 2009...

Right, because the toy line is the only true way of determining a franchise's reinvigoration...

Well when the critics have resorted to the film's toy line as being some sort of supposed indicator then you know they've thrown in the towel.

How is it a damn good indicator? It could be entirely indicitive of the toys being really shitty. I mean, I know after I looked at them, the only thing I ended up buying was the Enterprise and passed on all the sub-par looking action figures.

The toys were ass and the movie didn't cater to children. If you can't get kids or collectors to buy the toys, then who will?

They should have had Jimmy Kirk and and little Spock destroy the Narada while Keenser farted the alphabet. That would have solved half of the problem.

If anyone from Paramount reads this, call me.
