blueprints

Forbin, sorry about that I thought it had deleted.I am trying to take a picture of it so i can post it.Mine is totally different in the layout than yours.Bear with me uintil i can put the picture on.

Forbin, its titled Booklet of general Plans Outboard profiles USS Constitution NC1700 Star Fleet Division. second edition Franz Joseph Ballantine Books.More to follow with picture.

Do you have a digital camera or camcorder or some other means of taking digital stills? Do you need help uploading to an image hosting site or attaching the picture to a post? What's the holdup? Let us help if possible...lots of people are curious to see what it is that you have.

This is sounding like somebody who worked at a newspaper printer got a set of the blueprints, worked up a jumbo sized print, and ran off his own pirated print on the company's equipment.

Does FJ's daughter still post around these parts?

Except that the OP is still claiming his print looks "nothing like" Forbin's. What does he have and why is it taking so long to take and post a picture of it?

Well, he just cited the exact information of FJ's prints, so I'm a little confused just how "nothing like" these things can be, since they're apparently the exact same plans, just on one big sheet.

boobatuba, i am not into computers that much so walk me thru how to send a picture from my pictures folder to this site.Go slow i am just about basic emailer hey have some compassion for us old guys.I have taken several closeups of various oparts of it and dont have a full size photo of the whole thing

No problem. The simplest and fastest method for now would be for you to send the images to me in an email and I'll host them on Flickr and post them here. Email to boobatuba A T brightok D O T net (of course, use the @ symbol and "." in the address instead of A T and D O T).

EDIT: Here's the three pics I received from pop...any ideas?

Looks EXACTLY like Forbin's to me...a full-size pic would be helpful...I don't know why that would be difficult to do.

Psst...pop...look at Forbin's right thumb. Everything you just pointed out is right there. Rotate Forbin's print 90 degrees clockwise and you'll have an easier time seeing it.

Or, better yet, look...

Of course not. The only thing I'm still confused about is how an individual at a "newspaper firm" was in possession of this document and was able to print you a 5' x 7' copy of it. That isn't cheap and easy now, much less in 1973. I worked in the newspaper business in the early 1980s and it was no small feat to ready the press for a printing run. It seems strange that a newspaper would allow their resources to be used for such a purpose.

All I know is the guy worked for a newspaper that was printing them.Other than that I dont know any details.

The Franz Joeseph blueprints really are a masterpiece in my opinion. I rank the man alongside Sternbach and Jeffries. But obviously not as high as Jeffries. You're really lucky to have what you have. I just have them as jpgs on my hardrive.

FJ himself sold some full-sheet prints of the blueprints back in the day (They were rolled and sold at conventions). I am also aware of MANY mimeographed copies produced in the 1970s as well...

(I could easily see a small-town newspaper guy running off a few hundred of these in a couple of hours in order to make a quick buck at an upcoming convention. It's not THAT hard...)
