They promised us...

My biggest disappointment is the lack of Human colonization of the Solar System. It's the 21st Century, for Pete's sake!

Ugh, preach it, preach it loud!

I will volunteer my time to this effort. Right now that means writing science fiction books which feature space colonization in some way. But if anyone's putting together a team to actually tackle this thing, holler in my direction. :D

LOL! I just had this conversation with a friend, asking where were our flying cars and jet packs. Her response was, can you imagine what a nightmare it would be with people texting and FLYING or flying under the influence?

And besides, a jetpack would burn your legs.

This guy seems to be sorted.

He is an ex-fighter pilot, mind.

Free Food and free auto insurance.

I mean, WHY should I have to pay for this stuff??

geez.............

Lucy Liu-bot. :)
I'd prefer a Rhona Mitra-droid myself, but I hear you, brother!
Free Healthcare

 Now, now, that's just science fiction.
Free ANYTHING is science fiction.

Yes, a Rhona-droid is what the world is lacking.

And where are the robotic cars? I want to be able to drink and drive. Imagine the time saved in conjunction with sporting events and concerts.

(pre-robotic cars) Drive to venue, park and try to stay out of Security's way while you sit around and imbibe in a parking lot. Then stagger into event.

(post-robotic cars) Get in car, get hammered on the way as car drives you to event, stagger in to event. Much more time-efficient.:bolian:

Technically, that's more like a small ultralight aircraft, not a jetpack. The wing provides aerodynamic lift. A true jetpack uses thrust reaction alone for both lift and propulsion.

... Flying cars. Where are the flying cars?

What science fiction idea that is actually within the realms of possibility do you wish was already here?
And I am thankful for every day the skies aren't clogged with the idiots who can't even handle four wheels on the road.
My thought exactly. I see those flying car scenes and it scares the hell out of me. So many idiots can't stick to their own lanes when held down by gravity; how the hell will they stick to any lanes in the sky? I'd rather stick to transporters, thanks.
I'd settle for an auto-drive function ala Demolition Man.

The robot cars are coming. Give it another 30 years or so, but it's coming.

I agree with this, however the same people we don't want in flying cars over our heads -those that can't drive- are most probably the same ones that will insist on controlling their own vehicles, those that don't believe a robot car can drive safer than they can
