Some Sub-Rosa Thoughts...

It was cool finally seeing Beverly Crusher get her own episode, but half-way it kinda upset me:

Picard gets jealous and nosy; Troi begins to 'feel' a lot more than she should; Data and Geordi are just there.

Basically, it seems that when Beverly is--for the lack of another term--is 'getting her freak on,' everybody is all up in her business.

The woman is happy. Granted, Roman* isn't 'all that' in looks, but let Beverly have her moment.

Then, there has to be a cop-out towards the end when we have Roman be a villain who is tricking Beverly. (Again, the woman can't have her moment; it's one of the very, very, very few times Beverly gets to act 'sexy' and be 'sexy'....feel 'sexy'....)

:( What could have been....

*Alright, his name is 'Ronin.'

Meh. Sorry to disagree with you Joel, I hate this episode. The sight of Beverly gyrating in a chair may very well have been the last thing i ever wanted to see. I always feel like i need to gouge my eyes out after watching this one. Sorry!

I just saw that episode last night! I have to admit, it seemed out of place for a Trek episode. It's as if someone took a Gothic romance novel, replaced the word "ghost" with "anaphasic lifeform" and called it a night.

Awww....

Party poopers!

:(

I enjoyed it...then again (IRC) I had a thing for Beverly at the time...so...uh...yeah  It wasn't a great episode, but it was a fun, campy episode, a bit TOSish in story-- though I don't think TOS could have gotten away with a female crewman getting her freak-on while the captain watched.

That's because knowing Kirk, he would have loved to watch!

Sub-Rosa first aired when I was 5 and it scared me! Watching again it's nice to see Beverly have the spotlight again (Remember Me) but it's not the greatest Trek episode...

Nah, he'd be giving pointers.

Just wanted to come back to something:

Well, there was a 'Fistful of Datas' which put the crew in a Western....(Not one of my favorite episodes).

There was 'Q Pid' which put the crew in a Robin Hood setting....(Another episode I don't like).

There was 'A Piece of the Action' which put the TOS crew in a 1930s like mob setting....(Fun episode)

There was 'Catspaw' which put the TOS crew in a ghosts and goblins setting for Halloween....(An alright episode)

There was 'Bada Bing-Badda Boom' (or something close to that title) where the DS9 crew is put in a 1960s casino setting....

'Captain's Holiday' is supposed to be--according to production notes--like 'The Maltese Falcon'....(Not one of my favorites, however)...

And I'm sure there are more.

Having Beverly look sexy in a romantic gothic setting isn't so out of place...considering what we've already had with the examples above.

As aforementioned, it was cool having the rest of the crew take a back seat for once and let Beverly take the spotlight; albeit, in an episode where the last half should have been executed a bit better.

Hmmm, Beverly Crusher in a TOS setting....

....blue duty skirt and go-go boots....:shifty::devil:

(Of course, we could just go with the TNG duty skirt...and go-go boots...)

Hmmm....
:cool::lol:

Beverly has a history of bad romances that would make Lady Gaga gag-gag.

The trill, the guy who evolves into energy, a ghost, future Picard...

Personally, I consider Sub Rosa to be by far the worst TNG episode. Almost every second of it is a painful, embarrassing experience.

My wife swears that I was sitting next to her watching this episode when it originally aired, but I must have mentally blocked it out because I only have the faintest memory of this episode. I have seen every episode of TOS, TNG, and DS9 at least 4 or 5 times (except for this one) and all I really remember is something about a haunted candle and Beverly's hair was different.

The sight of Beverly gyrating in a chair may very well have been the last thing i ever wanted to see.
It's the first thing I want to see.
Then I dedicate my temp-avatar to you:

My James T. Kirk would have joined in!

Three of my favorite eps!

She needs to be gyrating.

My hand-palm moment is when a broad Irish stereotype was messing around on the ship like a druken wheat-farmer in an Apple Store.

I watched this last night and sorta-enjoyed it sorta-ignored it. Me falling asleep whilst a commercial break was a testament to my interest in the episode. It was kinda really embarrassing, and I thought the "Beverly trapped in a Warp-Bubble" ep was a better one, seeing as the crew didn't all act like helpless sheep. I swear. Geordi and Data where like Blank slates. And Picard seemed like he was just there to be nosy and get zapped by Ronin.

The episode overall just annoyed me, I guess.
