I noticed earlier that Olivia had a picture of John Scott on her desk, which she then turned over.

Oddly enough, she just split from Mark Valley. They were married for less than a year.

After a secret wedding over the holidays in 2008, Anna Torv and Mark Valley, who costarred on Fox's Fringe, have just as quietly ended their marriage, People has confirmed. The two tied the knot in a small ceremony in December 2008, and separated a few months ago. Torv, 31, plays FBI Special Agent Olivia Dunham on Fringe while Valley, 45, played agent John Scott when the series began. He now stars in Fox's Human Target.

So the Observers are called Watchers in Walter's story, and instead of being named after months, they're named after the zodiac.

Anyone think Anna Torv is a poor man's Cate Blanchett?

Yeah, Anna Torv's never exactly impressed me with her range, and this episode unfortunately exposes her lack of flexibility. Ah well, the strength of this show has always been the supporting cast anyway.

(And what is with the shade of lipstick everybody seems to wearing--I don't think anybody looks good in that. The Mmm-I-just-drank-a-pint-of-arterial-blood look.)

Nice, offbeat episode--reminded me of the X-Files' occasional 'comedy' episode, although it got progressively less funny in tone (and it seems they forgot about poor Rachel). Interesting revision on the mythology that speaks nicely to Walter's mindset, though I've never really been of a fan of recent-history period pieces. I'm looking forward to seeing Peter flying more-or-less solo next week a lot more.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

Wow, the first half of this episode was going great with the noir feel to it. Then in the last half it felt like someone change directors/production managers and decide to just turn it into a recap of the "plot up till now" for the show.

Mixed emotions. Overall I really liked it as a recap/gimmick episode but parts of it were uneven. It certainly wasn't "Once more with Feeling" but definitely didn't fail on all fronts.

All in all I liked it pretty well and really like that they are trying new things.....that's always a good thing.....reminds me of Farscape. They tried new things all the time....a lot of the time they worked, sometimes not so much, sometimes a mixed bag.

My guess is that Peter will reluctantly hook back up with Walter before the end of the season and the struggle to work through their issues will be a Season 3 issue.

I'm still not sure if I liked it either. Part of me thought it was a clever idea, but the scene with Olivia singing was AWFUL.

Now, Broyles--that man can SING, but Olivia? UGH. And she seemed unnecessarily wooden in this one.

Interesting in concept, but I was embarrassed for them. The whole thing was a WTF moment---and not in a good way.

On part it felt like Smallville's "Noir" and then it blended "Fringe" ideas of alternate realities(modern technology and 1940's clothing)

Really??? I thought her singing scene (w/ Peter) was quite good - and her acting in it.

I thought the Astrid singing scene was much worse.

It was amusing that Walter had the 'balls' to kill off the girls mom in the story. :) And there was a definite Iron Man vibe as well...

Charlie was Liv's other FBI partner who got killed by the shapeshifter that came to 'our' universe, looking for her.

The bit about her stepfather was from Season 1, and while it seemed to have importance in the ep that dealt with it, it seemed less important as time went on.

As for Aragorn's question: I still maintain that 'Mr. Secretary' is Walternate, but it does beg the question if it IS really Walter's counterpart, why did he wait so long to cross into our 'verse, presumably to look for the missing Peter?

The other possibility is that it's Belly, either our version or the Alt-Bell. But the hands didn't look like the hands of a seventy-something year old man.

I know who Charlie is. I'm asking that who "Scar Charlie" is? I assume an alternative Charlie... but from which episode?

When Olivia had her vision of the Federal Building in the alternate universe, Charlie looked like this:

It's the episode where Nina is shot at the end.
