TNG relaunch wesley question

I was watching star trek nemesis tonight. In the text commentary, it is mentioned that there was a line left on the cutting room floor that said Wesley would have been assigned to the U.S.S. Titan.
I'm curious as to why the writers behind the TNG relaunch decided to not go with that, and have wesley serving aboard the Titan.

For the same reason they didn't go with Martin Madden as Enterprise XO, despite that deleted scene....other options were considered and found to be more interesting. :)

Well, for one thing, because it would've been a completely gratuitous reversal of his character arc from "Journey's End" onward. It doesn't make sense that he would grow dissatisfied with Starfleet, realize it wasn't his true calling, discover he was beginning to evolve to a higher level of existence, go off to become a Traveler with superhuman powers and a higher understanding of reality... and then just go back to being in Starfleet again as if that whole extraordinary journey never happened. It was a bad idea for the sake of an inconsequential cameo, and it's good that it was cut from the film.

well im glad they chose not to go with the Mark Madden character. lol although its too bad they didnt throw him in there to just get killed by the borg.

in total agreement with you there, Christopher.

Clearly! I've been meaning to go back and read some of those books, in any event. After I finish rereading The Dresden Files, I suppose.

I actually wouldn't mind a whole book dedicated to just what he gets up to as a Traveler.

I've actually been waiting for Wesley to meet Q ever since he left TNG. I'm kinda surprised we haven't gotten that story yet.

Traveler Wesley appears in the A Time To Books...and has a relationship with Christine Vale until he removes himself from her memory and tells the others not to reveal that they had anything together. I can't remember the books he appeared in but I'm pretty sure it was in the first half of the series.

Crikey!/\He must have pulled the same trick on me,I don't remember that at all.

Him being there that is....not that I had a relationship with him...um,..:shifty:
