South Park - 200 Tonight.

This was an excellent episode, and thank god it's a multi-parter. I really loved all the continuity nods to the early seasons, which tend to be completely forgotten. I hope they bring back Mephisto! He hasn't appeared since like Season Two! I bet he's the father. I loved the return of Mitch Conner and the Super Friends and Mecha-Streisand.

Agreed. It was excellent. A lot of fun with a lot of great callbacks. Classic South Park. The Gingers being the terrorists totally works. Also a fun return to the "Who is Cartman's father" storyline.

And Mohamed, it was funny the way they meta referenced the controversy over showing him.

He is a super Best Friend, but he is CESORED!!!!

Tonight's South Park might be the best episode they've ever done. They brought back everybody, and seeing the updated Mecha-Streisand was so gloriously over the top it was just freaking awesome. I wonder if we really are going to do the multi-parter though given the last time they messed with us with Who Was Eric Cartman's father. It's one thing where I'm not a fan of rehashing old plot points, (see 24) but South Park did it so well and it was so freaking cool that I loved every minute of this episode. Of course I think they have to do a part 2 because they don't bring back Mecha Streisand only to use her for 2 minutes. There has to be more than that.

Best episode for ages.

^ Agreed on the second movie. Just finished watching "200" and man that was brilliant...can't wait to see the conclusion and Mecha-Steisand was just epic! I haven't watched on a regular basis since around season ten.

"Imaginationland" and "Go God Go" and "Cartoon Wars" were the true classics that were movie-worthy. We'll see if "200" ends up being as good as those! I hope so!

I only got to catch the last half of the episode, but man, it was brilliant...they managed to throw in all those references and characters in a way that actually worked and made sense! That was an accomplishment in and of itself...

Are we certain that this is a two-parter, though? Is there a synopsis/episode guide out there that lists next week's episode yet? The opening up of the "Who is Eric Cartman's Father?" bit makes me a tiny bit nervous that next week will be "Not Without My Anus - The Director's Edition" or something like that... :)

We'd better get a resolution to this episode...wikipedia's article for "200" has a great synopsis and references to all the previous episodes that were mentioned in the episode. I think my favorite part was when Jennifer Lopez/Mitch Connor returned! I really do think that was the most I've laughed in a South Park episode for a long time.

The dramatic camera angles for the scene where Mitch Connor tells Cartman about the lie behind who his father is had me rolling...

And when the celebrities decided they needed the threat of force as well...my wife and I just looked at each other and said, "MechaStreisand"! :D

Kiryu Striesand.... Nice......

South Park does this thing sometimes... Where part of the joke is the fact that they are playing it as straight as possible, and actually attempted to make it intense..... Really, that's what sets them apart from everyone else.

I got to say, even though I enjoyed it and it was a "fun" watch, it really wasn't anything special; it was a fangasm, just offering what fans wanted -- returns to old characters (like Mr. Hat) and in-jokes -- apart from all that it wasn't actually good, or even funny. I never laughed once.

I did get a big smile from one moment which only last like five seconds, where there was shot of George Lucas and off to the right, lower on the screen, was Harrison Ford, shirtless, black lether straps on his chest and a ballgag in his mouth, with a chain leading to Lucas is left hand.

Which is antoher call back to a past ep. I enjoyed the fact that it wasn't a clip show, in fact it felt like a SERIES finale, where everything comes to a head.

I loved it though. There's too much tomention that I loved; my wife called the Jennifer Lopez appearence as soon as Cartman showed up, loved seeing the Gingers rise up (huzuah!). This is everything a fan of South Park could have asked for, I just hope there is a sequel to it.

Yeah, I know it was a call back -- that's what made it so amusing. ;-)
And that they are keeping at it rather than letting it go.

(and will "South Park", "Family Guy", and whoever is next, stop picking on Danny Elfman already? Geez.)

Only person missing is Chef, but since Hayes is no longer with us, I guess he can never be back, though the evil child molestor Darth Chef could make his first appearence since that brief scene long ago, though it would be a great insult.

Also spotted Mickey Mouse in this episode. Their version of Mickey Mouse as a violent, foul-mouthed studio head was a classic.
