What's your fav trek book and why?

Crucible: McCoy and Troublesome Minds top my list. Also, Strangers from the Sky and the Romulan Way.

I have a feeling Vanguard will knock some of those down a peg by the time I finish.

I just realized, I forgot to include Destiny in my last post. It is by far the biggest, most epic story we have ever gotten in TrekLit (at least of the stuff I've read).

Well I'm a big fan of the DS9 post-WYLB series, and I think the quality has been consistently good throughout. The stories that I particularly enjoyed the most are...

  • A Stitch in Time by Andrew J. Robinson
  • Avatar #1 and #2 by S.D. Perry
  • Mission: Gamma #1 - Twilight by David R. George III
  • Unity by S.D. Perry
  • "The Lotus Flower" (Worlds of DS9 #1) by Una McCormack
  • "Olympus Descending" (Worlds of DS9 #3) by David R. George III
  • Warpath by David Mack
  • The Never Ending Sacrifice by Una McCormack
  • Terok Nor trilogy by James Swallow, S.D. Perry & Britta Dennison (I know this is more Lost Era than DS9-R)
And non-DS9 novels I really liked are...

  • Greater than the Sum by Christopher L. Bennett
  • Destiny trilogy by David Mack
  • Full Circle by Kirsten Beyer
  • The Romulan War: Beneath the Raptor's Wing by Michael A. Martin

My favorite Trek book is "Trial by Error" by Mark Garland for one particular reason. The woman who would become my wife was reading this book when I first met her. I took a chance and asked her how she liked the book. That conversation started a relationship that's been going on now for almost 13 years!
I think this wins the "best reason for it being a favorite" award. :bolian:

My favorite Trek book has got to be Crucible: McCoy because it is a wonderful story, I couldn't put it down, and it's the only Trek book that has moved me to tears.

The passage of 31 years and my own failing memory prevents me from remembering all the Star Trek novels (Despite the fact that they are all preserved on several bookcases in a special room in my house), so my answer would have to be:

Too many to name, and because they're Star Trek.

I can't just pick one, so I will instead if it's allowed simply choose the "Shatnerverse". It was actually the first thing Trek I ever read even though I actually started off with "The Return" it just struck me as so perfectly in tune with what little I knew about TOS at the the time (I was only 9 years old at the time) and the writing was fast paced and I loved the teaming of Picard with Kirk as much as I had when Generations came out.
