8'ish/10. Some pretty moving scenes with Jack and his son and some pretty tantalizing things happened on the island but it just doesn't seem like it's moving all that quickly this year yet.

Don't get me wrong, seeing the names on th compass and how they line up with the numbers was pretty awesome. I like that Jacob is still around but I don't like how segmented/seperated everyone's stories are from everyone else's right now but perhaps that's intentional so that when not only everyone's stories converge as well as both timelines, it'll be that much more effective.

Dunno. Lots to chew on.

I forgot to mention "I just lied to a samurai" which almost deserves an excellent on its own . Classic Obi-Wan reference, too.

Something on the side, while we are seeing all kinds of new mystical temples and whatnot dating back to Myan or Egyptian times, I'd like to see them find a long lost Dharma station, just to bring us back to that kinda thing too. I'd like to think we haven't seen ALL the Dharma stations, and there is one that has some kind of new special meaning. Would be neat, anyway.

Also, I believe Jacob is setting up Jack to make the ultimate sacrifice for the island, his life. Not sure why I believe that but it seems like the only logical end for his character.

I don't know about a wholly new station, but I would definitely agree that the Dharma story is certainly not over yet. I mean, we can easily fill in the blanks about things like Kelvin and Radzinksi (at least if you religiously read Lostpedia like me...) but it'd be nice to have certain things shown, rather than implied. Same with things like that classic mysterious food drop way back in season 2, for which I believe we've long been promised an explanation by the writers. (Also, why no food drop since then? :D)

The current format of 2007 Island Story + 2004 Flash Sideways could make the conclusion of the necessary Dharma stories rather difficult to portray, but season 5 was able to masterfully juggle two formats, i.e. first the island time jumps/2007 off-island story, then the 1977/2007 story.

Of course, at this point, I have an unjustifiable faith in the writers to bring us to an awesome and totally-makes-sense conclusion no matter what...so maybe I'm hoping for too much. ;)

Above Average.

I hadn't really thought about the 2004/2007 thing ... plenty of time for the alternate timeline people to be the ones coming to the island.

I'm not really sure if they would bring the alternate timeline people into the main timeline or not but it would make for some interesting situations. I kind of want to see good Sayid face off against evil Sayid. Talk about badassery.

I'm super-intrigued what might be happening at the temple right now. omg!

I was waiting for some random meaningless twist like Jack's ex-wife was Libby or Penny or someone we've seen before. But Lost always spoils the guest star cast so no one's ever made a surprise appearance.

Thought it was Excellent!

Creepy Claire, Great Jack flashwhatever, Hurley & Jack on an "old school" quest!

Good stuff, I'm lovin the final season.:bolian:

Anyone notice Sayid's accent is considerably different? I wonder if that's just Naveen Andrews or some sort of clue about how he's different?

Also interesting, is that the flashbacks seem to be mirroring season 1 (as producers said there callbacks to S1).

Season 1 Episode 3 was a Kate flashback, and so is Episode 3 of this season. Episode 4 was Locke (the classic Walkabout), and this season's Episode 4 was Locke. Episode 5 was Jack - White Rabbit, the episode where he chased Christian and found the caves... and this Episode 5 was jack.

hence, i'm guessing next week is a Jin and/or Sun episode.

However, if the pattern holds I dunno wtf happens with Episode 7 which was originally a Charlie episode...

I voted average because there was nothing that really wow'd me or really surprised me. I had already gathered Claire was going to be batshit crazy, I guess it was a mild surprise that her "friend" was Locke, I was expecting it to be Christian.

The stuff at the lighthouse was just more LOST mystery mumbo jumbo (the LOST equivalent of Trek's technobabble) and didn't really resolve anything. The promo for next week saying they can't show it because it answers questions pretty much had me going . Heard that before.

Assuming there are no breaks between now and May 23rd, and the finale is 2 hours, there are 14 hours (minus excessive commercials) left so I realize they aren't REALLY going to answer anything anytime soon so I've lowered my expections for the next several episodes.

^ Claire mentioned her father AND her "friend". I don't see the Lighthouse being a mystery. It's what Jacob uses to observe the candidates throughout their lives while remaining on the Island.

Jack was supposed to die in the pilot ...

I've already prepared myself for next week to be about the adventures of Rose, Bernard, and Vincent.

I am still waiting to see this one it wasn't on ABC.com yet...did see alot of video from the episode and "Lighthouse" Untangled.

Average. Jack was actually likeable in the ALT, but par for the course on island when he broke the mirrors. I don't think Emily De Whatever has the acting chops to pull off Psycho Claire convincingly and without being annoying ranting about the baybay nonstop. No answers. More questions. Same as usual. They need to pull those "The time for questions are over" promos.

Above average. A very enjoyable episode. Not a lot of answers but that didn't seem to matter. So, why is Jack so important? And, if Hurley truly is a candidate, it must be because he is so malleable to Jacob's will. He just goes along with what Jacob says. He raises a few questions, mostly about impedements of getting Jacobs will done. "But Jack won't go along with this . . ."

It was nice to see that Jack avoided alcohol in the alternate reality. He seems like an ok guy in that reality. Helping his mother, trying to understand his child, offering free consultations to strangers, etc.

While Dogan and Jacob don't seem to be on the same page, they both seem to understand that Jack needs time to reflect on what he'll do. That he's not going anywhere until he resolves that. So, Dogan doesn't fret about Jack leaving and Jacob just tries to find ways to get Jack thinking.

- Breaking those mirrors seemed like a boneheaded move.

- I think it's Desmond who's coming to the island.

Who is coming to the Island? Put your votes in now!

I think it might be Walt.

I question everything now, but don't seem to have any answers. It's apparent though that the "someone is coming" thing was just a ruse to get Hurley to get Jack to go to the lighthouse.

Maybe Jacob wanted Jack to go to the lighthouse for several reasons. One, to get him thinking as Jacob eventually stated. Two, specifically to smash the mirrors so that no one else could come? Maybe the lighthouse is the main link to the real world? Break the mirror and it's hard/impossible to get to the island? Maybe everyone who needs to be on the island is already there? Don't know!

In the end, I'm not positive that anyone is coming. Desmond would be high on my lists if someone is coming. Where is he supposed to be anyway? Do we know? I'm forgetting when we last saw him (not counting the plane).

Wasn't it in that church with Faraday's mom and the giant pendulum? He basically said they were crazy and left.

Ah right, so he wasn't on the island when the time line changed? Interesting story potential there. He might be the bridge between the two time lines.

That would also make me think that he is the one who is coming (and that someone really is coming). But, I still think Jacob suspected that Jack would smash the mirror. So, that probably was just a ruse to get Jack there and there's another means to get Desmond to the island.

Last time we saw Desmond in "our" timeline was in the hospital, recovering from Ben shooting him. I do suspect that the Desmond on the plane we saw in the premier is actually "our" Desmond who is reality jumping. We'll see the whole thing on the plane later on from his point of view and find out what he was really up to.
