Which Trek novel would make the best film and why ?

For me it would be the Destiny series. It reshaped the franchise as a whole. Introduced the characters good and bad , and most importantly for a trek film ... lots of fecking coool ships like the Aventine and the Titan which are characters of there own. and finally it delt with the death of the borg which is a major event in the timeline of the federation ....

As well as all the planet blowing up people getting mushed stuff lol

What do you think ?

I don't know about a movie, but I'm going to put my bias on full display and say that the Vanguard books would seem to make mighty fine fodder for a series or mini-series.

On HBO.

With Ian McShane running a saloon somewhere.

I'd have to go with Vanguard again, or Titan. TTN has some great characters in it who I would love to see on screen.

What's so horrible about HBO? They've had plent of good dramas, like Sopranos, Rome, Deadwood, and The Wire (which I haven't seen, but really want to).

Well, it's not as though the notion of adapting a novel for the screen is new or anything

That said, the chances of anyone actually adapting a Trek novel for the screen are about as good as Diane Lane calling me up for a date. But, there's no harm in dreaming

I can't believe I forgot True Blood, it's just one of my favorite shows. As for the ATT books, I could see that working but only as two movies. IMO the stories were separate enough that they would work best as two movies.

Death in Winter would fit nicely in TNG movie continuity.

I'd much rather have a DS9 movie, though. Maybe the Millennium series, or Avatar.

I love peter davids novels however they wud not suit a movie .... maybee a new series tho ....

I think A Time to Kill/A Time to Heal would be the best option. It's high-action, so it would sustain an action flick. It has a plot that can be condensed enough to fit a 2-3 hour length. And it's thematically complex enough to be worth telling in another medium.

If they could do the first Vanguard book set in a nuTrek movie, I think that would be cool. In my opinion that capture the feel of the station and how the character feel compared to TOS. Plus there would be cameos from the recent movie, adding to the idea that there is more then just Kirk and his ship in the TOS era.

I would love to see a mini-series made out of the books, maybe wait a little longer because the full story has not been truly finished in the novels. Having a true british feel where they don't drag their feet with a series, they tell a complete story and then they're done, no messing around until season 7 to final call it off.
