well, this schedule kinda sucks. best opportunity to really sit down and enjoy a paperback is during the summer, at the beach or by the lake, and the schedule is either blank completely or just reprints between May and October. Some time off from Trek Lit, I guess...

You're trying to tell us you have no unread ST stockpile whatsoever, including all of the eBooks? And no titles you'd like the chance to reread?

That's what I'm telling you. I've been reading them since the mid-80s, and have re-read almost all of the books at least once, many of my favorites enough times that I've had to buy a 2nd copy of a few of them. I read pretty fast, and don't have a backlog. And summer is an excellent, relaxing time to read, out in the sun by the lake or on the beach. Just won't be Trek this summer, I guess...

As "proof", I've been talking about how I'm re-reading the Sword of Truth series lately, and have been blazing through those, and they're the better part of a thousand pages each. I enjoy reading, and try to take at least part of my lunch hour each day doing so, when time permits.

I don't normally read the TOS books, but with such an anemic schedule that may have to change. Inception looks interesting, as does the Pike book.

^Yes, indeed. I own virtually all the books but I still have a shelf for those that are unread. Basically, it is a 'time' issue - I seem to run out of it more than I like.

Well, since June of 2008, I've read 158 Trek novels. So I think there's a chance I'll get there...

I'm not reading all of them, though. Just the, oh, 300 or so that seem most interesting

I know the feeling, though it's as much due to local availability as to finding the time - hell, I only found (and picked up) a copy of Ex Machina *today* and that came out five years ago now...

I have about 250-300 ST books and have read all but 40 of them. I still need to find the rest of the old ones and keep collecting the new ones...the collection just keeps growing and I love it.

I don't know for sure how many Trek books I've actually read, but I'd estimate probably between 50-100 in my bookshelf, and I've read all but 6 or 7 of those. Then I also have 8 that are in my bedroom waiting to be read. I'm actually pretty close to up to date, but that's only because I go back and forth between the newest books, and older books.

I'm only missing a couple dozen books from my collection, mostly SNW, Voyager and a bunch of novelizations, and most of those I see on Amazon for one cent plus postage or very cheap so I'm not worried about getting a complete set. I was picking them up at the used book stores in town before they stopped selling them or went out of business. That's why I own Shatnerverse but haven't read them yet, they were very cheap at Good Will, etc. Now I get the Star Trek books new when they come out and I'm keeping up with the new stuff.

As for what I haven't read I think it's around 120 books and it pretty much falls into these catagories:
- I've never read a shatnerverse
- I've never read SNW
- missed a bunch of the novelizations
- haven't read almost all of Voyager pre-relaunch
- haven't read about 45 numbered TOS but I own them all
- haven't read about 30 numbered TNG but I own them all

Which means I've read pretty much all the ST I wanted to read after I picked it up again, when I heard about DS9R and read A Stitch in Time. I assume at some point I'll be able to say I've read them all but that's going to be down the road a bit, if I don't lose interest.

Maybe I can convince the Bad Robot people to scuttle more novels, so I can catch up. I've read a number of TOS novels about 20 years ago, and have a ton of catching up to do. At first I was ruling out anything but TOS novels, but now I'm including post-relaunch (or non-numbered) in the other series. But no Calhoun or SCE just yet.

I couldn't stand for that. Over the decades, I've groomed several bookshops (and their staff) in the art of stocking Star Trek novels. That has included promising to take ten or so copies to club meetings each month - and returning unsold copies plus cash. Also helping them with ads in club newsletters, introducing them to the old Capital/Diamond orderpack, printing out upcoming titles (pre Internet), writing reviews and telling fans where I bought the book, and so on. It's really paid off, although during one lean period I was playing off two shops (plus Amazon) against the other in a race to get the titles first.
