So with a few days left, is anyone sticking around for the final game?

Of course. I already bought mine and my brother just got the lifetime subscription. this game is a LOT of fun.

I'm buying the game but only with the month-to-month or possibly the 3 month plan. The more I've played the Open Beta (which, admittedly, isn't a whole lot... maybe 4-5 hours), the more fun I've had. I just don't know how much time I'll have to play the game so I don't want to make a big financial commitment.

Great end of beat event for today...

A massive Klingon Fleet is forming near Qo'noS for an invasion into Federation Territory. Klingon Warriors who wish to join this fleet may rendezvous near Qo'noS at 2pm PST (We're GMT -8 right now).

me n my Sabre class ship will enjoy wiping the floor with you all

Ooooo sounds fun! Can't wait to get home and have a look...

Will there be events like this in the full game? Random Borg invasions etc?

I'm planning on buying this and getting the lifetime subscription before it goes up to $300.

Sadly I won't be near my computer then, so I'll be sitting this one out. Could you please give them hell for me?

i'm not sure. certainly not at first. i never really got into the game. combat never felt fun. space combat was just me circling a guy firing all weapons at once. if my shields dropped on the left side, i circle the other way while those recharge, still spamming fire all weapons and bridge officer abilities.

ground combat got a bit better with the last patch, ordering your away team to move to certain positions felt good... i generally positioned them around a corner, grabbed aggro then ran back to them with a trail of enemies shooting me (not very trek like). but away team missions failed because AI pathing was awful. my crew constantly got stuck on corners or pillars just following me. to fix it, i had to run back to the stuck crew member to let him synch up to my new position. (this was mostly a problem in ship interiors).

i'm still not a fan of the dozens of small instances for zones. meeting up with friends will be a hassle (it was in champions, and they used the same system). i'm not a fan of the general ground movement. I'd prefer the game to start me at a full run from a stop or direction change. having it ramp up makes the movement feel sluggish.

i didnt play enough to get a solid opinion of class balance or ability upgrades.

Sound like you have quite a bit of experience with MMOs. I've noticed that veterans of the genre seem to have a lot more nitpicks with this game than newcommers. Personally, I love the game so far, but the only MMO i've played in the past is WOW for about 10 hours.

The ground combat is not revolutionary, but I find it simple and fun. Kind of reminds me of KOTOR. The Space battles can be a little too easy when its one on one, but when you are in a large multi-ship battle, it can be very intense and fun.

I think that the general Star Trek fan will appreciate this game a lot.

I'm planning on picking my copy up next Tuesday and paying month to month as that's all I can afford. I know it would be cheaper to pay 6 or 12 months at a time, but I can only do 15 bucks at a time, sadly...

10PM GMT massive event - Klingon invasion of Federation space. be there, or be Q-Squared ;)

Good luck to you, my comrades :)

I think your tales will influence me more towards getting this game (and updating laptop to be able to play it).

Played it for a couple hours last night, and, i dunno. The on-planet stuff was kinda boring, and the ship missions were hit or miss. Could take a lot of time just crusing around, as well.

Didn't play long enough to do many upgrades, but would have liked to figure out how to add additional crew, wander inside my ship, or upgrade said ship to something cooler. I don't really care for the MMO format, but if it was a single-player, mission-oriented game, I'd probably at least give it a shot. Paying for the game, plus monthly fees to keep playing, means I'll probably skip it. Maybe if there's a free demo/trial period eventually, I can try longer and see if it hooks me more, but the first couple hours led me to think I'd get bored, or have to play it a LOT to justify playing it at all...

Been in since closed beta back on 10/29/09 - and what the Dev team has done in that short time hs been noting short of amazing (imo). They work pretty fast; but yeah, got a DDE preorder; the Lifetime sub, and am just waiting for the game to open officially. I've kinda tapered off playing it as once the game officially starts, this will be the 6th time I leveled from scratch, and each time I keep finding gear and BO layouts I want to keep - so that gets annoying.

I have a cruiser and Escort all well decked out currently but come Friday, I get to start again. I'm still beciding If I do want to start a character, or wait for launch day as the Joined Trill and Freed Borg PC from the Lifetime subscription won't be avaialble until launch day :(

But, been playing MMOs since EverQuest in 1999; and happy to finally see a good space-based science fiction based game in a setting I enjoy a lot (Yers, EVE Online is space-based too - but too bare and too PvP oriented for my tastes - and I played it for nearly a year).

Noname Given, I've been in for Open Beta, and just the updates to the UI and the game balancing that I saw in two weeks was pretty impressive for a company that was obviously working under pressure considering they got a lot more beta invites used than they were expecting and had to race to get more servers up to handle the load.

I know that fans of other MMOs or ultra demanding Trek fans were expecting a lot more from this game right out of the gate, but from playing beta it's met my expectations and I can't wait to get back in for real in head start and to pick up my box and cd and manual from Target next week.

Judging from how Cryptic handled patching during OP, I can't wait to see how quickly they start sneaking in expansions once they get the ball rolling after launch.

I tried to engage the some borg spheres but obviously my Miranda wasn't ready for that kind of challenge. Took them about 3 seconds to blow me to pieces and I didn't even scratch their shields.
