I recently saw a show where they were compared and while I have my favorite I'd like to know yours.

I was also in Chicago a few months ago and had one of the best pies in the city. Very tasty!

So, thin-crust New York style or thick crust, deep dish Chicago style?

(I'm getting a pizza tonight!)

Honestly, I prefer pizza somewhere in between, but between these two, I'd have to go Chicago-style. You just pack so much more stuff on it!

I just looked up what deep-pan pizza actually is, I was thinking of pizzas with giant crusts. :alienblush:

The reverse of what I said is true then, too much topping to crust ratio. Don't think I could stomach one of those.

Yeah, deep dish is like an inch or two of toppings. You usually need to eat it with a fork, and one slice is enough for a whole meal.

I tend to think they're both good in their own ways. I've had this debate with an Italian who didn't like all kinds of American pizza. I said New York style and Naples style were both good in their own ways, so the same would hold true with NYC vs. Chi. Depends on what you're in the mood for.

When you're near Chicago, eat Chicago, same for New York.

If you're not, find a good local chain and stay away from the shit you considered pizza as a child. We're grown-ups now. All is forgiven unless you still eat at Papa Domino Hut.

New York style isn't really "thin crust". It's just normal crust. I prefer that. Actual thin crust is like a cracker, usually a soggy one, and I can't stand that. Mostly, I'm partial to brick oven hand-tossed crust pizzas.

I voted for thin crust NY style pizza because it is the closest equivalent to actual pizza, Italian style: hand tossed and cooked in a open flame brick oven.

Favorite topping for me is sausage, mushrooms, onions and mozzarella di bufala cheese. Lose the onion if it's a date.

I'm a New Yorker and we make the best pizza in the world. :techman:

Only thing Chicago has that's thick & deep is Oprah. :p

As much as it pains me to vote for New York in anything, gotta go for that option. Not much of a deep dish pizza fan, just too thick/heavy for me. Prefer the thinner crust...

At least you didn't include St. Louis style, which I was introduced to when I lived there. My wife described it as "tomato paste on a thin cracker". blech.

I've had true Chicago style from one of the local Chicago pizzerias when I visited once. Best pizza I ever had!
