Does the way this is pronounced drive anyone else crazy? Mostly Takei says it like this (still does to this day for that matter). It just bugs me.

What are some of the 'little' things that bug you about TOS?

I love TOS dearly, but to this day I cannot stand the way William Campbell's "Koloth" pronounces the word. "Klinguns". As in "We Klinguns...". It just drives me up the wall!

I love William Campbell's portrayals of those characters, though. He did a brilliant job.

Wow. I thought that I was the only one to notice Takei's odd pronunciation.

But it's all cool 'cuz it gives TOS a hip multi-cultural taste.

When I was little I was sure he was saying "KLEE-ons". My TV's two-inch speaker cone probably had something to do with that!

I love "Friday's Child" and Julie Newmar, but Eleen pronounces the word "clingin'." At least Tige Andrews gets it right.

DS9 had the waitress in "Trials and Tribble-ations" over-pronounce the "g." I thought it was nice touch.

The Klingon thing never bugged me all that much because I just assumed that the actor/actress own accent was changing it a little. My only problem (of this nature) is the use of "Let's get back to Enterprise" rather than "Let's get back to the Enterprise". I like the sound of "the Enterprise" much better. When I hear it not used, it's like hitting a pot hole in the road. You know something was supposed to be there but it's missing. Strange though, it bugs me the other way on Voyager. There was an early episode where Paris said something like, "It the Voyager" and it just sounded wrong to have the "the" in there.

Of course, Shatner was the king of saying things wrong. He did so on a few of the Animated shows too.

Bones always slurred that and talked about "returning to Thenterprise.."

Oh, well; that's a Southernism. DeForest was saying "thuh Enterprise" and slurring it to "Thenterprise." He's from Georgia; my family was from Tennessee. When we moved to California, I had to learn how to say "I" and "the" properly. There's a glottal stop inserted in there, with "Thuh Enterprise," which accounts for why we slur them -- to avoid it.

That is true.

Oh yes, I've always noticed how Takei pronounced Cling-gons. It never did bother me though. I rather enjoy listening to him speak.

Bugger... I was going to mention that joke - always one of my favourites at school. Tends to reinforce the fact that the only way to say the name is "Cling-on", doesn't it?

Anyhoo, I just always found it noticeable. I still think Koloth (as well as all of Campbell's other characters) is awesome.
