Well the track record for new WHO actor's venturing into the US television market has been sporadic at best.

I never have ID on me. Why would I? I've never needed it, unless I've been travelling or applying for something.Oh! No way! How horrible for him!

If you have an ID, I don't know why you wouldn't just keep it in your wallet just in case.
Nothing I could use as an ID would fit in my wallet... But I've never felt the need to carry ID on me, I've never needed it, so I wouldn't go out of my way to have one on me.
Weird. Even in a non-driver's license capacity, I usually have to bust out my ID at least once a week for one thing or another.
I've never been carded when buying beer, not even when I was under age. The only time I've never need ID was when applying for credit, and of course when I was leaving/entering the country.
I guess it's why there's so much resistance to the idea of a compulsory ID card in this country, because we just don't need them that much.

Same here. Though I feel a bit sorry for him, I was laughing out loud when I read this. I always carry my wallet with my ID with me, especially when I'm in another country.

I'm sure if he does one, it'll just be one of those flat, generic American accents like Hugh Laurie does (or like Ryan did on Bionic Woman).
I really hope he doesn't have to though. I'm so used to his normal accent it would just be weird and distracting hearing something else.

Um, I do realize that. I was referring to his scottish accent (which honestly isn't that different from his "english" one).

For those interested, someone posted an excerpt from a radio play/book/? that David did which showcases his American accent. I don't know how old this is, though, so who knows if his accent is better by now or not. I don't think it's too bad, though there were a couple bits where it slipped. But then again, if you go back and watch the first few episodes of House, you can tell how much better Hugh Laurie has gotten at doing the American accent from then to now.

That's probably because Hugh's audition tape was done in an American accent and the producer mistakenly thought he actually WAS American.
