How come the WORST movie of the summer (aka Transformers 2) gets an earlier release?
I thought GI Joe was the worst movie of the summer?
I'm guessing it has to do with how long the movies were expected to last in the theater. Transformers 2 didn't have as long a run as Star Trek.
Now that PS3 is selling for $299.00 (US), it is a hi-quality Blu-Ray player at a bargain price.A PS3 is generally considered one of the best Blu-Ray players available. Nothing you can get for a "few hundy" is going to be much of an upgrade.![]()
Guys, I trawled the thread a bit looking for an answer to this, but didn't find anything I was too sure of, so I hope someone can answer this.
I know there are three versions of the take-home STXI, and I know the BluRay special edition comes with the 4 badges and the augmented reality holographic packaging. My question is, since I'm still stuck in the world of DVDs and don't plan on upgrading to BluRay soon:
What am I going to be missing out on if I pre-register for the DVD release from Amazon (they're offering it for cheap if you pre-order, and I have an Amazon VISA that I like racking up points on)? If I just go for the "basic" DVD, will I be missing out on all the deleted scenes and other special features, or what?
Thanks, everyone.
^ I think that if you look at the break-downs of the different sets here, you should find all of the answers to your questions.
For the short version, the description for the single-disc DVD is as follows:
M', not Blu-Ray equipped - ordered the 2-disc DVD setThe STAR TREK single-disc DVD is presented in widescreen enhanced for 16:9 televisions with Dolby Digital English 5.1 Surround, French 5.1 Surround and Spanish 5.1 Surround with English, French and Spanish subtitles. The single-disc DVD includes the commentary, “A New Vision” and the gag reel.
Thanks very much, M'Sharak. I'm really not pleased about it, but I think the extra featurettes (totaling 5!) on the Blu-Ray are going to make me upgrade my home player -- even though I really shouldn't be spending money on myself so close to the holidays.
Just pre-ordered on the BestBuy website - at least I'll be able to get the badges from the film ... which I haven't managed to find anywhere else.
Thanks again! Can't wait.
I recently got one of those external disk drives that you can kook up into a laptop for about $80

When it comes down to $129.99 (CDN) at EB Games (the same price as the X-BOX 360), then I'll buy one-but not before.

Can the X-Box play blu-ray movies? If not, it's not much of an alternative.

Agreed. Especially since the PS3 is still considered one of the best BD players.
I don't get why all of these movies that came out after Trek did in the theaters (like Transformers) had their DVD releases come out before Trek's (which was one of the earliest movies to come out this Summer.)
^ Move to Australia.![]()
That movie looks great in HD
BTW: Is it just me, or did they indeed fix the shot on the Narada where we saw Ayel's gun lying on that bridge, from which Kirk was hanging, even before Kirk took it from Ayel?
Did anyone notice that the CG-model of the Enterprise has a nasty little error on the impulse engine-thingy/spine, along those glowy stripes, on the saucer's topside? I noticed it in cinema already (it's very noticable at the end before the Enterprise jumps to warp) and got it confirmed in that Starship-simulator on the second Blu-Ray.

What do you mean by error? A mesh error?

When Kirk jumps from the upper level to the lower level, there's an overhead shot with Ayel's weapon clearly lying on the walkway.
