My cat just glared at me with this disgusted look on his face when he heard the Dr. Who theme.

Not related to cats but all to do with the Doctor Who theme - when my eldest son was a baby he would stop crying as soon as the Doctor Who theme started. This was back in 1977-78. I went into stores to see if I could get a copy of the theme but couldn't find it. In the end I just recorded the theme on a casette player each day (Dr Who was on TV Monday to Thursdays) for several weeks until I had about 30 mnutes of Who theme on the casette. it works wonders at calming my son who was a difficult child even as a baby.

As for my kitty being of limited mental abilities I just mean he's constantly slamming into things (repeatedly) and falls off the sofa and windowsill (repeatedly), he's extremely clumsy. He also makes wild dashes at my wife and my legs when we are walking which isn't always the safest course of action. Sometimes he goes to jump at me and ends up falling over backwards. I just have to shake my head and wonder sometimes. Oh well, it's not as if he's going to have to choose a university someday...

He loves to play, but these days he's biting really hard. He doesn't break the skin, but he loves a good chew. Does anyone else have kitties that gnaw at them?

Nerdius Maximus thanks for the tips. The citrus spray sounds like it'll do the job.... and a scratching post certainly would help, too.

Her mother was a pregnant stray cat that we took in, so we have had Miss Chicken since the day she was born (almost 11 years ago). She was born with only three legs. Technically speaking she has a fourth deformed small footless leg that is shaped like a chicken's wing and that is how she got her name.

I'd say that's pretty normal. Being curious is one thing, but you don't need much of your brain to run around and attack thing, certainly not when you're a cat.

Yeah, our cat does that. The best way to deal with this is to immediately stop paying attention to them when they start gnawing. Our cat does that when getting overly enthusiastic and she gets the point when she's suddenly ignored.

Cat. Mouse. I'd call that well-balanced.

This is my cat Jax. He looks identical to your kitten, billcobwebs.

He grew up big though. Not fat, solid, and tall and long. Everyone who meets him comments on how large he is. If he was a street cat, he'd rule the block. He's not though, he's a big, wussy indoor kitty.

You cannot train cats. The harder you try, the more they do the thing they aren't just to piss you off. Because as any long term cat owner knows, the cat is who is really in charge, they just let you think you are because they really don't give a shit unless you piss them off.

When I see a cat looking at me at home, I' find I automatically use whatever toy it uses (usually a toy mouse on the end of a rod) to chase around the room in order to get its exercise, then to feed it when it mews its hungriness, etc.

I've since discovered that it is the cat that has trained us humans.

The only way to 'train' a cat is to do something they hate when they're doing something you don't like. I find that a few coins in a small glass or metal container works wonders when shaken at the misbehaving cat.

Your cat looks like our cat Buttercup! He's the EXACT same way! He will not stop jumping up on cabinets and precedes to get into the cubbards and snatch food and eat it! EVEN PEOPLE FOOD! But you know he's there cause he makes this howling sound and yes he has been fixed. Lately he acts like he's never satisfied with being full and used to weigh about 29lbs. Now he weighs around 9 or 10. That's quite a weight loss! And I'm also trying to get him off his diet food and have succeeded.
