Restless Leg Syndrome

So, anybody here have restless leg syndrome? What are your ways of relieving it?

Usually, I take a magnesium supplement and just watch TV episodes to distract me until total exhaustion allows me to fall asleep. That does the trick most of the time, but not tonight, for some reason.

Although I did discover the episode of The Big Bang Theory where Leonard's Mom comes to visit. Christine Baranski was friggin' hilarious! It might just be my favourite episode of the show.

For that affliction, just do the same thing T'Baio does for his:

I get RLS sometimes too..and it usually happens to me when I'm on my feet all day long. Usually I take an Advil PM and hit the sack, hoping to resolve the issue that way. And of course, I watch a little TV and allow myself to relax in that way.

I experienced Restless Leg Syndrome as a side-effect of Tylenol PM, it was terrible! I can't imagine having to put up with it on a regular basis.

If anybody is interested, I got a couple RLS books for sale.

I remember when I first learned of RLS a couple years ago from a commercial. Needless to say I came to TrekBBS a day or two later and made fun of it. It's still funny to me. Maybe that's because I don't have it.

It never occurred to me that I might be able to do something about it. I just kick my legs around like crazy or get up and do something active to completely tire out my muscles.

I didn't like that episode, the sole reason being that I think the woman playing Leonards mother failed miserably at the part. :(

So is this the new "cool" disorder that everybody thinks they/wants to have because they show 1-2 features of it to very mild degrees, just like Asperger's Syndrome?

Same here. I also find that bracing a foot against a solid object while tensing the leg for a short time can help. But the relief is always temporary, which tends to be normal with RLS.

My mum gets it too - we quite often bitch about our own damn legs when I visit.

:D

A while back, I read that one possible factor to RLS could be mild dehydration. The author of the article said that when his RLS occurred, he'd drink as much cold water as he could bear -- several glasses of water -- and that usually stopped it.

I don't have RLS, so I've never tried it. But drinking water isn't a bad idea. And it's a cheap treatment to try.

I used to have it. But since my brain surgery I haven't have one symptom.

Conclusion? Have brain surgery.

It's really not cool. I usually avoid mentioning I have it because people generally behave as if it's a figment of one's imagination rather than an actual diagnosis.

I drink loads of water, so unfortunately this won't help me. I've never sought treatment for RLS, though.

Of course I have it. Most people have it. And its perfectly normal. Though people at work get irritated at times. I simply try to consciously stop, or failing that, smoke a few extra cigarettes to calm me down.
