Holy !@#$, Disney buys Marvel Comics???

Well..here's this poster reply in other forum that I went there:

This is disturbing, a lot of the Marvel films were too bloodless as it is, putting Disney in charge is risky. Don't get me wrong, I liked Pirates Of The Caribbean and am looking forward to Prince Of Persia, but with Disney in charge we won't get Punisher movies, we won't get anything above a 12 (UK rating anyway). No Blade sequel/spinoff (there was one planned), nothing. I knew Disney were big, but I had no idea they were big enough to completely buy out Marvel.

I hate to agree with him.

Hah, I'm waiting for The Incredibles to be integrated into the Marvel Universe in the inevitable sequel.

But Fox and Sony still have X-men and Spiderman film rights correct?
For how long though?
As long as they keep making one movie every five years.

Those properties he named were leased out to other studios, and remain there. Marvel Studios, which Disney now owns, had already said it wouldn't be doing anything above PG-13.

^ The loss of any further potential Blade or Punisher film doesnt bother me. And I am really not inclined to want my Marvel movies to have more blood and such in them than they already had, I liked them fine as they were. and in all am not particularly bothered about the possibility of any changes that could be potentially made to future films.

And I also dont see Disney making any significant changes to how the comics are done, which would be the only thing I care about in this deal.

You do know Disney own Miramax? And it's not like Tarantino movies are PG rated is it.

Yes. I do know that Disney own Miramax.

They also owned Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures, both of which released their fair share of blood and sex-drenched films.

I'm not concerned about the movies. I don't anticipate any impact on that end of things at all (just means we'll probably see a Spider-Man show added to Disneyland and Disney World's entertainment lineup, is all). I'm more concerned about the comics. I haven't really been a Marvel fan for awhile (in fact these days I buy almost exclusively DC as Marvel's been playing catch up with DC for about 8 years) but I REALLY don't want to see an X-Men-Donald Duck crossover.

If you think I'm being silly, let me remind you all of this horror:

PS. Good lord -- I posted that link thinking it was related to the TNG crossover. I never realized they also foisted X-Men on to TOS as well!

Then that guy is stupid. Disney is a huge, well run company that makes boatloads of money every year. They also must have a lot of cash on hand if they're paying $4 billion for Marvel.

This deal still hasn't been approved by antitrust regulators. Granted, it probably will be but those regulators can still surprise us by saying no to this deal.

Joe Q from Twitter:

G' morning, Marvel U! Welcome to this moment in history. Everyone relax, this is incredible news and all is well in the Marvel U.

This is because it's all a big swerve. Eight months from now, Mephisto will erase the deal - everything will still have happened, but nobody will remember it, not even Wolverine - and, incidentally, Hannah Montana's secret identity will be restored.

Fuck. For some reason it was always a point of pride that Marvel was its own entity, unlike DC.

Just...fuck.

Fortunately for Joe Q., it's not really his job to convince every fanboy on the Internet that this is good news.

Except that it hasn't always been. New World Entertainment owneMarvel Comics for some years.

Marvel was nearly destroyed by outside owners milking it in the 80s. I find it hard to believe that Disney would be worse than that, and I suspect they may well have a positive impact on the company.

Everyone..

I got a another reply that I find it so frighteningly.

SHIT! I guess this means will be seeing the marvel shows pulled off nick! Also it means the end of comics as we know them.

And Disney is not done yet. I heard rumors of them going after DC comics!

That's what he told me from another forum.

Wouldn't happen. Haven't you heard of the Superhero Anti-Trust Act?
