Jenny?

But still, if new fans had not liked Sarah Jane there'd have been no point making a show about her!

I loved The Doctor's Daughter and even though it turned out different than I expected it would I like Jenny as a character and as mentioned before she provides a great contrast to the Doctor. I'd love to see her back again with the Eleventh Doctor.

I have said previously that Jenny could never have returned long term with the 10thDoctor they were too similar. She was always an option for the 11th Doctors companion in my mind.

Pair her up with Jack. That could be explosive. :)

This issue is really what differentiates the long-time Who fans from new viewers like myself.

The former group seems to think that "School Reunion" was a brilliant episode, I thought it was rather dull--the character of Sarah Jane Smith carried no special significance for me, other than that she was introduced as a former companion of the Doctor.

Similarly with "Army of Ghosts/Doomsday"--great, if you've spent a childhood fantasizing about a battle between the Cybermen and the Daleks, but mediocre otherwise.

There's room for both continuity references and new stuff in the series, of course. But yeah, I'm hoping that Moffat will tone down the continuity-heavy style of NuWho a little. And there are good indications that he will.
Well I'm a long-time Who fans and I think the show is at its best when it is made for everyone, including first-time viewers. This should not be made for an elite. In fact, it should not be made for fans.

I don't mind continuity references but the least I ask is that they're properly explained and that they have some emotional weight even for people who don't get the reference. "School Reunion" might have less of an impact if you've never heard of Sarah-Jane Smith, but at least her character is properly introduced in the episode, and you don't need any prior knowledge to understand what it's all about. Besides, "School Reunion" is about Rose, not Sarah-Jane, and the episode centers on her developing feelings for the Doctor. That's fine.

The worst thing that could happen to "Who" would be going back to things like "The Two Doctors" were the second Doctor is on screen for the first ten minutes, without any introduction whatsoever, about fifteen years after the actor left the show. Expecting people to catch that kind of reference is crazy.

As for Moffat, he wrote "Time Crash", so he does have a continuity-heavy streak in him.

"School Reunion" works on two levels: first and foremost, as has already been mentioned, it's a Rose story. Second, it's a Doctor story. Just as Rose learns of the potential repercussions of an intimate relationship with the Doctor, the Doctor learns of the actual repercussions of an intimate relationship with the Doctor. The fact that some members of the audience know his former companion is a bonus.

Well thank God for Moffats suggestion to keep her alive. It definately made the episode more memorable, and not just a 'meh, that was cute' and just forgotten about.
I dunno, It would be nice to have her come back once, just so the Doctor can find out shes still alive. But not sure I'd want her around on a regular basis. Just knowing that like Romana (back in the day) she was still out there having adventures, and starring in her own fanfics was enough.

As for Susan, whenever the subject of the Doctors family comes up, any reference to her is always conspicuous in its absence. You'd think he'd at least mention her. And so what if new viewers don't get it? Get off your duffs and look up 'Doctor Who', and 'Susan' online. Ya lazy punks. :D

ive always wanted to pair her up with Luke from SJA

It's been done in fanfic. Wasn't you was it?

^ Isn't Luke a bit young for Jenny? Then again, I suppose that's what fanfic is for. :D

Well, the fanfic in question alters a few things - Luke is 18. Jenny's travelling with the Doctor.

Oh, and the Doctor's having it away with Sarah. And Martha, according to Jenny. But it's the sounds coming from Sarah's room that get our two young protagonists all hot and bothered.

Arghhhh!

I feel dirty, think I'm going to see if there's some nice wholesome Romana2/Leela fic out there....posh bird and a savage...ooh! ;)

Luke & Jenny have alot in common, both were born grown who else can they talk about this stuff with?

meanwhile I think they pair up quite well, we have yet to see an evidence that Jenny has the Doctors genius but that is something Luke has in spades. They are really DoctorWho: TheNextGeneration.

I won't deny that one of the things I liked best about Jenny was the tight leather pants.

John Nathan-Turner was "Doctor Who"'s showrunner during seasons 18-26, IIRC. He's largely responsible for turning the show into turgid fanwank.

While this is true to a large degree, he's also responsible for keeping the show going--most often on a shoestring budget--in the face of monumental apathy on the part of the BBC.
