Whoa! Second promo for Supernatural season five....creepy

Best preview I have seen in years or ever. Love the music too.
Which is why I'm certain it doesn't come from CW marketing. This is an internet creation. It's never aired live. I love that last line she sings...what is it? My name is death and I am here. I don't know who's singing. I'm wondering if that's actually a fire circle around the dude in the wheelchair or if Cas burns him up. Why would a demon possess a poor crippled man? He wouldn't remain crippled with a demon inside him. Why would he just sit there?

You catch a glimpse of Jo in the preview, and that's Ellen sticking a gun in Dean's face in the street. I can tell from the back of her hair. At any rate it's better than the CW's marketing for the new Melrose Place.

Tuesday is the new hump day. No, I'm not making that up. :wtf:

Well nothing to do with the preview but still good news (well for the CW) is the ratings of Thursday since Smallville is no longer airing on Thursdays.

The last three weeks Supernatural (it happened once last year) has aired back to back episodes in the 8pm and 9pm hours.

* I will be mentioning Smallville's summer average and Supernatural's summer average. Both of those refer to the average viewers of the summer reruns before Smallville went to Fridays. Smallville's lower performance on Friday (which was certain to happen) is not considered.

And how have the results been. In its first week, the 8pm hour decreased a mere 70,000 off of Smallvilles summer average, and the 9pm hour actually increased 30,000 0ver the normal Supernatural hour.

2nd week (and with it not airing in the 2nd largest market LA), at 8pm it was only 10,000 viewers off of Smallvilles Summer rerun average. At 9pm it was up 20,000 over the average. So the night was officially performer over the average night of reruns when Smallville was the lead in and without the nations 2nd largest market..

3rd week (last night) Supernatural didn't air in the largest market in the US (New York City), and at 8pm not only out performed Smallvilles Summer rerun average by 300,000 viewers) we had the highest summer rerun for the CW. And at the 9pm hour we were up over the average Supernatural rerun by 450,000 viewers, and its the 2nd best performance by a rerun for the CW this summer. And both of those numbers are without New York City.

Based off of this (especially telling that two of the weeks had major preemptions) and the one time it happened last year it is clear that Supernatural was not dependent on Smallville as a lead in. In fact Both hours on average (including last years occurance) are performer stronger.

I really wish we would have gotten the 8pm hour (and no they could have gotten away with everything they have done at 9pm in the 8pm hour, times have changed dramatically).

This show is too damn good for the CW. The sad thing is it probably would have never seen the light of day on any other broadcast network (thank you, WB).

Then again...maybe it could have ended up on a cable network, instead. That would have been nice. :D

Supernatural actually hit at a good time. It hit when there was still 2 networks courting younger viewers (cable at the time really wasn't). And when both networks were struggling to get any program that was reaching an audience. And while it quickly progressed beyond just hitting the young female demos (when it started that was its biggest audience by far), the show got deeper and richer and more adult.

With the Vampire Diaries getting a lot of early buzz (not for quality, the pilot hasn't been given good reviews) and viewer interest is high. Supernatural might actually get a better lead in then what Smallville provided, and certainly a stronger young female lead in. I will be curious if that group will stick with the show instead of switching to Grey's. When we followed Gilmore Girls a lot of the audience stayed and watched Supernatural. Will be curious if the same happens. If it does and the network manages to survive, SN will get a 6th and almost 100% certain finale season.

It really is one of the better Supernatural promos. THe others I liked were the Kripke created teaser bridging the Christmas break off season 2, and two others from that same season the promo set to Johnny Cash and the promo for the episode where the priest is a ghost making people kill sinners.

I do think thats an internet only trailer as it seems too long for the standard tv breaks.

But hell DOrian I even like the Hump Day for Melrose Place, since its about selling sex. It fits that type of show. Unlike the girls of Thursday night which didn't fit the shows (not even Smallville is that shallow).

It was nice to get scenes from more then one episode in that as well. Are some of them from episode #4?

That was pretty damn good. Subtle and eerie, very nice work. Good job to whoever made it (either the producers or a fan, as I agree it's unlikely to have been the CW)

Looking forward to season 5 and I'm glad to know that both Jo and Ellen are coming back (it felt like neither character got the right kind of exit from the show. Alona Tal's character I remember wasn't popular and Samantha Ferris couldn't reach a contract agreement with the producers which is why she left)

And thank god Castiel is definately back. Misha Collins is fantastic and he needs to be in more episodes.

Also it's just struck me that Castiel's outfit (the long tan-coloured raincoat) is quite similar to John Constantine's outfit from the Hellblazer comics. Hopefully it's intentional by Kripke as it would be a cool little nod from one occult story to another.

Why are they freaking out about the apocalypse? On the CW, all you need to do is punch the bad guy once and walk away, leaving him unattended and unguarded. Not only is he easily defeated that way, but he won't expose you either!

I only just caught this show by accident a few weeks ago and liked it straight away, so I bought the 1st season box set and am working my way throught it.

Oh all right, I'm giving this show another shot. :D I've followed along with comments enough that I have a general idea what the backstory is.

Who's the guy with the blue tie and wings at 0:49? Is that "Castiel"? Fallen angel or sumthin?

Temis

Yes that Castiel, who pulled Dean out of Hell. For most of the season Castiel was at least friendly towards Dean. And ended the season freeing Dean from his boses and providing a distraction to help Dean stop Sam from killing Lilith (the demon who sent Dean to hell), which Sam didn't know would free Lucifer. He was to late.

Of course, Dean doesn't yet know that it was Castiel who also freed Sam (who Dean had trapped were Demons couldn't get to him) to free Sam of his addiction to Demon blood.

Sam has been drinking Demon's blood to charge his psychic abilities, thus allowing him the power to kill stronger, and stronger demons. Both him and Dean have been told that Lilith must be stopped from starting the apocalypse (by the Angels). The angels have known that killing Lilith will actually free Lucifer (Sam and Dean were not told that). And Sam has been obsessed with killing Lilith for her sending Dean to hell in season three. So for revenge for what happened to Dean (and to save him again) as well as stop Lilith from freeing Lucifer, Sam has been willing to do almost anything.

Season ended with Sam killing Lilith (after killing a demon possessed host and completely drinking her blood, the more disgusting is that the demon gave up control of the body so the human was fully aware of Sam doing it), finding out he has been lied to all this time by Ruby (and by the Angels) that for all his good intentions (and selfish ones) he has in fact freed Lucifer, Dean arrives in time to kill Ruby (thank you), and Lucifer is about to rise. Sam thinks Dean literally hates him (Angels gave him a false message about that), while Dean is truly pissed at Sam for all his lying and and how dark he has become.

When last seen Castiel was about trying to delay an Arch angel trying to give Dean a chance to prevent Sam from killing Lilith

Really its been a lot better then that sounds. A lot better, season 4 was bleak and dark (with a few funny episodes) and utterly fantastic. Easily the best season of the show. ANd it did a suburb job of tying together all the lose threads throughout all the previous three seasons.

So, to recap. Sam is squirrelly, Satan is running around loose on Earth, the female character(s) that people have been annoyed about (your versions of Hiro and Claire?) are dead (?), Sam and Dean are mad at each other but still loooove each other and will kiss & make up by the end.

Castiel is good, bad, we don't know?

What happened to their dad played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan? Did he die for good (and with access to heaven and hell, how can anyone die for good?)

Has the role of Satan been cast? Can they cast Hayden Panetierre? :rommie:

Is S5 the last season?
