You wanted a STXI behind the scenes book? (ST: The Art of the Film)

Re: You wanted a STXI behind the scenes book?

Awesome news!!

Although I hope it's more than just a "concept art" book and more of a general Behind the Scenes. The books that are nothing but a bunch of concept paintings don't do much for me-- it's the final product I'm interested in (the finished sets, props, ships, etc).

There'll also be the Haynes Manual for the Enterprise, due out next year.

Re: You wanted a STXI behind the scenes book?

Now I can see why Ryan Church took the artwork down from his website.

Re: You wanted a STXI behind the scenes book?

I'm going to have to familiarize myself with Memory Alpha and Memory Beta. Thanks for dropping those names for me.

Re: You wanted a STXI behind the scenes book?

I really miss the reference books for Trek. The Chronology, the Encyclopedia, the Tech Guides, etc. I have a pile of those at home. I really was hoping that the new movie would lead to new updates for these books.

There hasn't been a new Encyclopedia since 99, I think.

Re: You wanted a STXI behind the scenes book?

This is awesome news...it says its 162 pages long or something! I hope it's like the Serenity book and has the script in it as well.

Re: You wanted a STXI behind the scenes book?

Awesome!

But what I'm REALLY waiting on is a new update to the CHRONOLOGY and ENCYCLOPEDIA that includes the final two seasons of VOYAGER, all of ENT, NEMESIS and TREK XI all in one pair of glossy, snazzy volumes.

It's out already.

Volume I: Memory Alpha

Volume II: Memory Beta

Volume III: Ex Astris Scientia.

Yeah - as much fun as I had reading the Encyclopedia and Chronology - its uneeded these days.

I hope not. Why use up dozens of pages on the pointless inclusion of a script, when we could have more important things like behind the scenes info and artwork?

Re: You wanted a STXI behind the scenes book?

I'm actually a bit appalled at the lack of tie-in literature for STAR TREK XI. I would have at least expected maybe a kid's storybook of the film. I walk into Waterstones and see tonnes of stuff for Star Wars and Doctor Who, but virtually nothing for Trek!! There's just Alan Dean Foster's novel and MAYBE the Countdown TPB, and that's about it.

Four original novels set in the universe have been announced for 2010. Two comic mini-series are coming out now, one about Spock, one about Nero.

Re: You wanted a STXI behind the scenes book?

^ I think the poster meant during the movie's release and not any post releases and I have to agree. It's awesome this is coming out in Nov and the Haynes Enterprise Manual next year along the projects mentioned above but I would have liked something in May.

Man, I would kill to walk into a store over here and see tons of DW stuff everywhere. :(

Re: You wanted a STXI behind the scenes book?

Maybe we'll actually get to see some details without that damned obscuring lens flare. :)

A Dream Come True: FINALLY a new reference book..!!!!

as you can read here, Trek XI will FINALLY see a reference book, and it's been long overdue. Not just for Trek XI, but for Trek in general...

Hopefully someone at either Titan or Pocket Books will dare to create an all new Encyclopedia as well..!

Also being discussed in this thread, though your link is a new one. I will merge...

WHATEVER it ends up being, count me as a likely buyer.

Does the book come with a spotlight to obscure most of the text?
