Teams You Love to Hate

Baltimore Ravens

:techman:

The Baltimore Ravens - because of that preening idiot, Ray Lewis. I hate them only slightly less since they fired their former head coach, Brian Billick, Tony Saraguza.

:techman:

We thanks you.

And mine are:

NFL:
Shitsburgh Squeelers
Indianapolis "Colts"
I would hate on the Browns and Cincy, but why bother?

NCAA Basketball:
Fucking Duke
Virginia Tech
Carolina

NCAA Football:
Virginia Tech

MBA:
The Goddamn Yankees
I kinda hate the Orioles as well, because they suck so hard it's embarrassing.

With the exception of the Colts, its all in-division hatred...

I'm generally quite a pleasant fellow, but I reserve all my hatred for the Calgary Flames,
Toronto Maple Leafs and Arsenal. I revel in my loathing for those teams that to any fair and balanced person, like myself, are more punchlines than actual sporting franchises. I'd feel sorry for anyone that supports these silly teams, but I can't seeing as I think you're total wankers for supporting them. :)

Well you live in Massachusetts...so really how can you hate the Red Sox, because you hear about them all the time? You live in their home state.

I doubt that's as big a deal as it might seem. In a universe where the guy who hid the Big Papi jersey in the concrete at Yankee Stadium is *from* New York, anything's possible...

Besides, it could work the other way: there might be some people out there who hate the Sox precisely *because* they keep hearing about them day after day after bleedin' day. And not all these people live in Mass. either! ;)

I mean, people heard "Achy Breaky Heart" all the time back in '92, and look how that turned out.

I get that. It's just kinda strange to me. If he hated them because them being a rival team or something, I would understand that. But to hate them because you have to hear about them all the time....well what do you want...you live in the teams home state...where mostly everyone is a fan of them. It comes with the territory.

I think she likes the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Chicago Cubs

Agreed.

And, as a Yankees fan as well as a South Sider, I actually like the Red Sox . . . except when they're winning.

In the NFL, I dislike the Giants, if irrationally. I was very upset with them (I blamed them as a team) for injuring Joe Montana when I was little (I'm a patient '9ers fan, as well as a Patriots and Bears fan), and I don't think I'll ever be able to feel positively about the team. I also dislike the Redskins, if only because of their name, and dislike the Seahawks for political reasons.

In rugby league there are three teams I hate - Manly SeaEagles, Canterbury Bulldogs and Brisbane Broncos. Plus hate Queensland in the State Of Origin.

I've got to admit, I'm surprised it took as long as it did for the first Leafs hater to crawl out of the woodwork. :p

WINNER!!! Hell my wife can get $5 seats through work and I can count on no hands how many times I've been oto see them this year.

MLB: The Yankees.

NFL: The Patriots. And I'm still mad at the Bills for cutting Flutie. I don't care it was ten years ago.

NHL: The Senators. If the Leafs signed a piece of string as goalie and put stray cats out for defence, they'd still beat the Sens in the Playoffs.

MLB:
Philadeplhia Phillies
New York Mets

:techman:

New York Mets
Atlanta Braves (Mets mostly, but the Braves for their long-standing dominance of the NL East).
And the Yankees, of course

NFL:
Dallas Cowboys
New York Giants
New England Patriots
Washington Redskins
On the cusp of hatred with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the different conference helps

NBA:
Boston Celtics
Los Angeles Lakers

NHL:
Pittsburgh Penguins
New Jersey Devils
Detroit Redwings
(I flirt with hatred of the Senators, the Bruins, the NY Rangers, and kinda the Caps, and used to hate the Sabres, but those three are the main ones).

In each sport, I ranked the teams by most hated.

EDIT:
If I were to pick the top three in any sport it would be:

The Dallas Cowboys
The Pittsburgh Penguins
The New York Mets

Oh, and anyone not from Dallas or New York that does not have either the Cowboys or the Yankees on their lists should be ashamed!

The only franchise I truly detest is the Washington Redskins, ever since they played a game against the NY Giants in the early 70s (when the Giants sucked). They were up by a couple of touchdowns, had the ball on the Giants' two or three yard line with less than 30 seconds to play and that fucking bastard George Allen calls a timeout so he can score one more time on them instead of taking a knee.

After the game he defended the action by pointing out the tiebreakers like net score in division and net touchdowns, etc. Doesn't matter. That was a classless, unsportsmanlike act that still angers me over 35 years later.

Back during the strike in the mid-80s, the NFL had games with scab players. While most teams encouraged their players to cross the picket line, the Eagles coach Buddy Ryan told them to act as a team. So, while the Cowboys had their regular players, the Eagles had a bunch of nobodies. Not only did the Cowboys expectedly dominate the game, Tom Landry put his starters back in late in the game so they could score some more. That was classless.

Thankfully, the Eagles got their revenge when they got their players back. They were winning the game and Randall Cunningham was starting to kneel the ball to run out the clock. Then, instead of kneeling one last time to end it, he fake kneeled and threw for a touchdown. I guess it's little moments like that are the reason that I feel so strongly about the Cowboys rivalry. To me, they are the epitome of arrogance and every little thing against them is a victory of David over Goliath.
