Excellent news, I've been hoping they'd do this for ages (because I certainly wasn't paying £50+ for it on Ebay).


Daggerfall, the second game in the Elder Scrolls series, takes place in the provinces of Hammerfell and High Rock. The Emperor recruits you to exorcise the walking spirit of the late King of Daggerfall, but soon the story unfolds to something far greater than avenging the death of a noble...

Downloaded both of them this morning, but been busy today. Played The Conduit for a few hours, played a bit of Tales of Monkey Island (loving it, by the way, some classic Monkey Island humour in there). Hope they're good...

Yeah, it took me five hours to download the thing. Was like stepping back in time. ;)

Now, though, I can't seem to get it to work. It keeps asking me to insert the CD, and mounting the DFCD folder as it's own drive doesn't seem to work for me. Any ideas?
 
^ I'm using DOSBox. The problem is the game isn't recognizing the CD. I tried mounting the CD files on a virtual drive, then mounting both C:\ and K:\ (the virtual drive) in DOSBox, installing to C and then running it, but it was still telling me I didn't have the CD inserted and that it couldn't run.

I don't know if you've done this or not but try doing it exactly as they describe in the instructions pdf on the website . . . beyond that I have no clue :lol:

I don't know about you guys but the controls are crazy to get the hang of! makes me wonder when the generally accepted WASD FPS control scheme was introduced

While it was fun, Daggerfall was a buggy mess. Make sure you have all the patches and find a save game repair program, you will need it. Save often and leave yourself a long list of save files.
 
Maybe they should release the source code for it...
It did wonders for Doom and Quake as well as Duke Nukem...
 
I've been considering getting into The Elder Scrolls games for a long time. With most major gaming switching over from the PC on to the consoles, I was wondering how Oblivion compares between PC and PS3? Also, how dated is Morrowind nowadays?
 
I'd say Morrowind has aged very well. I would say that in most respects, I actually like Morrowind more than oblivion. The art design in Morrowind is more unique and varied, the story is more interesting, and I found its expansion packs to be more entertaining
 
I played it on both the PC and 360. The PC had the better controls but other than that I would say the PC and 360 versions were mostly comparable. I never got to try out the PS3 version
