Palin steps down as governor

Those opposed to her used the argument that she was a missing heartbeat away from the presidency. My statement was using that premise to easily see how much better our country would be if we had someone who actually had a clue running it as we clearly don't now.
This is the best you have? Lame. LAAAAME.

Yep, she couldn't run the state with the smallest population. How could she possibly be a decent President?

I gave a couple of reasons a few pages back.

Wow. There's some real cruel and nasty posts here in the past few pages. And we have notifications. Remember which forum you're posting in... and that we have a pinned FAQ which give me options.

which are as valid as a $3 note.

Well she clearly can't hold down one job for a full term. She just killed her career, she will never be President now. The only ad the Democrats would need would be that she couldn't handle being Governor, she won't be able to handle being President.

We don't know that she can't, only that she decided not to.

That's where celebrity comes in. If she does go on to do TV she's make millions and be able to get her message out - every day. And why wouldn't she? Why put up with the nasty media and political foes for a governors salary when she can do it as a peer on her own show?

At some point, if she decides, she can run for president on her celebrity status. Has it worked for anyone else? Sure, Obama was only in federal office for 4 months before starting his presidential campaign and runs his administration like he's a movie star. Arnold was a blockbuster movie star and won California. That creep Al Franken, a hack comedian, won out over the other creep - finally.

There's no reason that in 2 or 3 presidential cycles she can't go ahead and run for President especially if she has an Oprah like following.

She's had 3 jobs in government.

She's quit all 3.

Pretty shitty track record.

Sure, Obama was only in federal office for 4 months before starting his presidential campaign and runs his administration like he's a movie star.

January 2005 - February 2007 equals 4 months now?

Pretty shitty math record.

probably the result of an education under no child left behind.

She's done and no amount of wishful thinking can reverse the fact that she QUIT the job she was elected for. By not finishing her term she is betraying those voters that thought she was the right person for that job. "To avoiding being a lame duck" is the stupidest excuse I've ever heard a politician say. "Family reasons" at least sounds legitimate. Just remember your history, politicians resign for 2 reasons, they can no longer politically DO the job (Nixon in '74) or they physically or mentally CAN'T do the job. (See Strom Thurmond and his chairmanship of the Armed Services Committee and declining to seek re-election after 2002).

The fork is stuck in her political career

Wow. There's some real cruel and nasty posts here in the past few pages.

That, sir...is an understatement.

This thread is bearing a disturbing resemblance to TNZ--there's sexism and cussing out galore.

And yes...I did notify the mods. I see it worked. Glad to see you, sir.

I agree. The conduct here, sadly, exemplified the point I made very early in the thread--that apparently, given that this is a woman, and a conservative, a whole other level of sexual, familial, and personal remarks are tolerated than would be otherwise.

The sexism is quite obvious: if you can't see the posts describing the sexual services some people have said they want from Palin, you need glasses.

I must say I am very disappointed to see this behavior from fans of a show that depicts a future where humanity supposedly strives to evolve above that.

Well hopefully she'll find some sort of talent. Running anything form of government doesn't seem to be her strong area. Doing a television show watched only by housewives, who don't hate her, may work for her.

Could you please show where anyone has said that she's failed (miserably I may add...in everything she's ever done) because she's a woman? Because THAT would be sexist.

Calling her hot isn't sexist.

Saying she's incompetent isn't sexist just because she's a woman. There are plenty of incompetent women out there. She's an idiot, who happens to have a vagina.
