Wednesday (624) Box Office - Trek #8 - $0.7 million

Considering I've heard the words "robot scrotum" in some people's reviews, this may not be an exaggeration.

BOATS AND HOES!

And that one 'bot with a gold tooth--Pimpin'!

BENDER:"Someone mention Robot Ho's? It's all good, baby!!"

No PROTECTION? (antivirus software maybe?)

Now, forgive the caps, but....

MY FRIGGIN' IMAX IS PICKING UP STAR TREK... SOON...

HELLS YEAH!!!

Wonder how many "local" IMAXes there are around the country that are just now picking up the movie, and what will that do to the box office?

Inquiring minds!

 Congratulations! But, but...how does that work? What set of conditions should I be looking for...? ("Cannery Row" is one of my husband's faves.)

^^That's actually almost $700 more than last Wednesday. I can't believe it's still doing this well. It may end up very strong this weekend due to Transformers sell-outs. Transformers' longer running time will equal fewer possible showings per day, which increases the likelihood of that film having sellout shows. All the better for Star Trek, I say.

I don't understand how Star Trek keeps that up while losing so many venues.

This weekend it is going to lose a lot of venues. The two I generally go to are losing it. There are plenty left around Chicagoland, but I will have to drive a few more miles.

Well, like I said I have one venue that is just picking it up...

And to be fair, it is losing venues pretty slowly... maybe it won't lose many this weekend, given the stats.

And what's a few more miles... :p

Yeah, it's nothing; not far at all. I was looking at the Trib movie page this morning, and a number of multiplexes still have it today; but this weekend is another thing.

I was thinking $400-500,000 per day this week, what's going on? I guess it really IS good!

RAMA

Star Trek is losing 484 theaters this weekend (some of that probably happened already on Wednesday), down to 1823 theaters. Land of the Lost, Terrminator, and Night at Museum are losing quite bit more theaters.

Even with the money it continues to make? Well, hopefully 1823 theaters will still be enough to handle the "overflow" from TR2, and sustain the July 4th weekend...

:(

Year 1--adding theaters??

it's your fault for posting not-fit-for-kiddies pics. be glad my niece isn't looking over my shoulder right now!

I just got back from seeing Transformers 2 in IMAX. It is an entertaining movie and the effect scenes are amazing...maybe even too amazing. At times it was like sensory overload.

The script itself was SHIT! Terrible story, lame and cringe-inducing dialogue, and bad acting.

FX
Transformers 2 > Transformers

Story
Transformers 2 < Transformers.

Is it ... rewatchable though?

BTW, weekend predictions from boxoffice are 3.5 million.

But maybe Star Trek will pull another surprise like it did last week; the Wednesday numbers would suggest that, anyway...
