) except I couldn't help but feel like having mysterious thing going around destroying planets might be too repetitive from this movie. The more I think about it, though, the more I feel like "TDM" deserves being made into a movie way, way more than anything else, and really is pretty distinctive from what was happening in the previous movie - especially if Decker or a Decker-type character is played up as the "faced" antagonist. And there's your big star cameo, too. Heck, maybe Starfleet even has to team up with the Klingons or the Romulans or someone to fight TDM. (But now I'm repeating TMP!
)
I shied away from the movie forum for the most part; not a fan of spoilers. You can get enough of them just breathing.

Oh, that was a biggie. We went to see the movie on sneak-preview night. There is no way I would have come in here without having seen it.I shied away from the movie forum for the most part; not a fan of spoilers. You can get enough of them just breathing.
So true. I got spoiled about Vulcan being destroyed on this board. I thought it was gonna be reset though![]()
Gary Mitchell...
Introduce him in the next movie as Kirks' best friend... then go on to make him Kirks' worst nightmare...
Doesn't have to be a complete rehash of WNMHGB, doesn't even have to be close.
But it would be a perfect story/plot to show how Kirk gets closer to becoming the captain we know.
Kurtzman said as much, back when the announcement was made that they'd been given the go-ahead to begin working on the script for a second movie:It wouldn't surprise me if Orci and co had several different ideas and just leaked this one to gauge the reaction from sites like the TREK BBS, which has been done before to see how something would go down with the potential fanbase.
TrekMovie articleObviously we discussed ideas, but we are waiting to see how audiences respond next month. With a franchise rebirth, the first movie has to be about origin. But with a second, you have the opportunity to explore incredibly exciting things. We’ll be ambitious about what we’ll do.
). I started off in the no reboot camp, but the more I thought about it, I knew they had to something, and what they did do seems to be a good compromise.

Actually, that isn't a bad idea - the Enterprise saves the Botany Bay from the DM, then Khan tries to take over the ship (a la Space Seed), so Kirk has to fight on two fronts, inside the ship, and outside. Throw in Decker and his ship, and you've got yourself a movie!how about the botany bay is eaten by the doomsday machine..
