ALIEN prequal is confirmed.

The two Predator movies have nothing to do with the Alien franchise.

If you've never watched Alien3 then I would advise watching the dvd release version rather than the cinematic release. It's a far better film which actually makes sense.

Unfortunately Predator 2 does as it features an alien head in the Predator's trophy cabinet...this led to the comics, games and eventually the films
I think it was the other way around and the skull was a homage to the comics pairing them up.

Actually Teelie is correct. The first Alien Vs Predator comic book came out a full year prior to the movie Predator 2. The Xenomorph Skull was included because of it.

Ah thanks for clarifying that, and Deckard sorry I hadn't realised you meant the AVP films.

AVP is still a surpringly enjoyable film, and it at least tries with the whole pyramid under the antarctic etc, but AVPR being just another monster on the loose in small town America was just horrendous! (Although the aliens in a mternity ward bit was nasy enough to be in a far better film)

I'd have to watch AVP2 again (once wasn't enough?) to view the maternity ward scene again but I found it incredibly tasteless and disgusting, and not in a good way when I saw it in the theater. Most of the movie was just your typical horror-monster slash fest with the monsters being the Xenomorph and Predator, and then a gratuitous amount of scenes that were ripped off (as opposed to homaging) from the previous films.

I thought AVP had some hilariously obnoxious violence. From the maternity ward scene to that girl getting impaled into the wall with the Predator Boomerang of Death, I enjoyed it enough to laugh hysterically.

I also thought it was hilarious that I saw it in a 100% packed theater on Christmas Day.

It's been proposed in the alien comics that the Space Jockeys created the aliens. I've seen conflicting information about the reason for it. I've seen it said that the jockey's made them as a bioweapon for use against the Predators and I've also seen it that they were made as a prey so that the Predators would quit hunting the Jockeys.

this alien prequel doesn't sound too promising to me.the alien saga is best left alone.the avp movies have done too much damage to alien, and predator, as it is.

There were a few funny scenes, some intentional and some not. And despite the few good scenes I just cannot get behind it. I saw it on Christmas Day too. It wasn't a packed theater but there were more people than I expected too.

Oh no, it was a fucking terrible movie.

But I still found the violence funny.

Re: ALIEN prequel is confirmed.

You know, I actually preferred Alien 3 and Resurrection over Alien and Aliens. .

I'm not knocking your taste - you enjoy what you enjoy - but I would really like to hear your reasons for this.

Well, I found Alien to be, in all honesty, slow and dull. And the story takes forever to get moving. Aliens is actually half decent but loses points for the Marines. They are a bunch of unlikeable bastards and I acutally cheered when a few of them were killed.

Alien 3, strangely enough had likeable characters, even though they were convicts. And Resurrection is just simple entertainment that makes for an enjoyable couple of hours.

They should have an Alien/Terminator crossover, with Catherine Weaver instead of Sigourney Weaver.

Ah Alien, back in the days when films took the time to set up their premise. The marines in Aliens are arseholes, but that is kinda the point, and I still find them more appealing than the religious fanatic rapists of 3. Probably the biggest thing that downed Resurection was that it came out about the same time as Starship Troopers...now there was the alien film we should have had next.

I want to know where these aliens came from.

Humans made them!

(wouldn't be surprised if something stupid like that ended up happening)

Unfortunately I can see that too. I'd much prefer that they're a species that has specifically evolved the way they are to survive their hostile environment. That's the thing to love about the Alien aliens. They're really ALIEN! :)
