E3 2009 Discussion thread HOLY SHIT MONKEY ISLAND IS BACK

Up until that Metroid announcement, I was expecting a sequel to that "blah blah blah puppies are cute" gif that was floating around.

God, I'm so glad I don't own a Wii. I'd be so depressed right now.
I'm far more excited about New Super Mario Bros Wii, Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid then I am from anything shown at the Microsoft or Sony press conference. Then again I actually like games that are fun. :techman:

I don't have a PS3 though from the Sony conference I was impressed with Uncharted 2, the Kart racing game and God of War 3 (still need to borrow the first two from my brother).

If the PS3 slim rumors are true and it's coming out this fall/early next year I might have to buy one. The PS3 is finally getting enough exclusives that I could possibly justify it's cost.

Really? That game that Sony talked about, the game that is basically Little Big Planet but with racing instead really looked interesting to say the least.

First think that springed to mind was a Trackmania clone, But That game looked really impressive and just Fun. (and much better looking)

I'll never understand why people insist on constructing these false dichotomies.

Anyway, I'm watching some gameplay footage of Brutal Legend right now. It seems to exemplify the word "awesome"

What that James McCaffrey (Max Payne, Viper, Rescue Me) as the first male voice in the Metroid trailer? He has a very distinct voice.

My only thing about Metroid Other M is that... well, what's Team Ninja without Itagaki? I guess Samus won't have ginormous breasts though.

I'm hyped for MAG now after seeing a playthrough. DICE is never going to make Battlefield 3, so MAG is the only true large open world FPS that's out there at the moment and that's really the only type of multiplayer FPS that I prefer nowadays.

I think I would prefer it that way

I'm the exact opposite, I can never get into the larger FPSs. I just get owned constantly. It stops being fun haha

None of the FPSs Sony or Microsoft showed impressed me (well besides Left 4 Dead 2 but that's co-op), I'll stick to Team Fortress 2.

Yeah, the only games that have me excited right now are Left for Dead 2 and Metroid: Other M. I'm feeling sort of mehhh on this years e3.

That trailer alone makes me want to go out and buy a Wii

You have several years before it's released.

The NSMB:Wii looks awesome now that I saw a penguin suit!
I think the trailer says its on a path for a 2010 release

It's funny, I think I'm old and slow to the point where I don't find CoD4 really all that fun. It doesn't help that people just sit and grind the best weapons fairly quickly.

I like being able to be a sniper who actually has a chance to take out an enemy from across the map. Most FPS maps still feel like mid-range battle boxes to me.

Gamespot just showed a Heavy Rain playthrough. It looks good, but really, really QTE heavy. I'm still not sure how I feel about that... but at least they aren't instant-fail like a lot of other games.

Im still not sure what to make of Heavy Rain. I sort of want to play it but I don't know yet. I enjoyed shenmue so maybe Ill be able to get into it

I'm just kind of intrigued by the fact that any main character can die and yet the story will continue.
I suppose this is one of those games where I'll have to buy the stupid guide.
