Despite that, there are a couple of wags at Outpost Gallifrey trying to convince people that Karen will be playing Donna as a teenager, the Doctor having realized that interfering in her past is the only way for her to escape her fate from Journey's End...![]()
^ If RTD were gonna be running she show I might halfway suspect that would be true![]()
I wouldn't. RTD was pretty clear about establishing a completely platonic relationship between the Doctor and Donna -- and, frankly, I doubt that Moffat would pair up two hot young actors with no intent of shipping them, especially since the Doctor hasn't had serious feelings for anyone since Rose. Why?

One would seriously hope Moffat has bigger thoughts in mind with regards his casting than 'Ooh won't these two look lovely togeather' . Many times when producers try to create a "ship" it fails miserably. For ever Dave and Maddie there's an Archer/T'Pol
You're right though, the Moff does love his romance (From Press Gang to Coupling to Who) so I don't expect the show to go all puritan on us. My view on romance has never shifted, it's fine but don't make it the be all and end all and don't force it where it isn't there. If Smith and Gillian have chemistry togeather brilliant, but if they don't (in that way) then don't push it. Seriously what's the point? If you want some romance the Doctor can meet any woman from space and time. spoken as the guy who thinks 10 had more on screen passion with Reinette than he ever had with poor wittle Wose![]()
Yes but there's chemistry and there's chemistry...It could be a friends chemistry (Doctor/Donna), could be a mentor/student chemistry (Doctor/ Ace), or it could be a romantic chemistry (Doctor/ Rose)- Guess we won't know until the new series airs.
Except that we don't know anything about the character yet. We don't even know her name.Bottom line: Get ready for another Epic Doctor Romance, folks!![]()
1) I think wamdue's idea that she's a humaniform Ice Warrior is complete bollocks.
2) For all we know, Gillan's character could be, like Izzy, a lesbian. Which could be interesting; the Doctor (maybe) fancies her, and she has absolutely no interest.![]()

Probably not her costume in the show!
Certainly a looker. Thought so when she was in Fires of Pompeii. I expect she can act, they've been pretty good at casting.
Yeah, that's who I figured she played. I actually liked her Soothsayer, probably because her look contrasted with the others, thanks to her hair. She was the cutest of them all, too, and it's too bad she didn't have more of a presence in the rest of the episode.

True enough. Though I'm sure that Moffat knew what kind of chemistry it was when he cast them.![]()

Gillan has already appeared in the drama, having played a Soothsayer in The Fires Of Pompeii in the last run.
"I am absolutely over the moon at being chosen to play the Doctor's new companion. - I just can't wait to get started," she said.
Well, she sure is pretty![]()

They are going for a younger audience (nothing new in that though). And there is this interesting qoute from Moffat: "A generation of little girls will want to be her. And a generation of little boys will want them to be her too."
Interesting.
have any of the previous Doctors, ever wanted to be ginger, or was that just Ten?
or maybe he had just watched BBC 3's "Fuck off im Ginger"have any of the previous Doctors, ever wanted to be ginger, or was that just Ten?
Ten was the first to mention it, but he was obviously articulating a desire he'd previously have. I'd say it's a reasonable inference that Nine wanted to be a redhead next time he regenerated.
It's an indication that the Doctor hasn't been Merlin yet. Per "Battlefield," the Merlin Doctor has red hair. So, Tennant's Doctor saying in "The Christmas Invasion" that he wanted to be "ginger" means that he's not yet the Merlin incarnation. It was a sneaky, subtle continuity ref back to the old series. (And, also, an injoke at Billie Piper's ex-husband's expense.)have any of the previous Doctors, ever wanted to be ginger, or was that just Ten?
