I don't know about anyone else who loved this film, but am I the only one who is extremely concerned if Abrams decides he doesn't want to direct the sequel to Star Trek?
The guy obviously has a great vision for filmmaking, and pacing, and making you feel apart of the story. Directors like him aren't on every street corner. I also believe there is a certain amount of feel and touch that would be lost for audiences if the sequel were to be guided by someone else. This series needs continuity. I don't think we as fans have ever gotten 2 GREAT Star Trek movies in a row. Why should we expect no less at this point?
If Paramount has brains, they will lock Abrams up to do a sequel and a third entry. I suppose a concession would be to have Abrams handpick a successor to direct the sequel, but outside of someone like Danny Boyle who has that extra creativity, I can't really think of anyone else who could make a proper second entry into this re-energized franchise!
Anyone agree?
