Who is your favorite Doctor?

First Doctor - William Hartnell

Second Doctor - Patrick Troughton

Third Doctor - Jon Pertwee

Fourth Doctor - Tom Baker

Fifth Doctor - Peter Davison

Sixth Doctor - Colin Baker:

Seventh Doctor - Sylvester McCoy

Eighth Doctor - Paul McGann

Ninth Doctor - Christopher Eccleston

Tenth Doctor - David Tennant

My favorite is the Seventh Doctor, McCoy was the one who truly captured what I thought the Doctor was supposed to be like, weird, funny and seemingly harmless on the outside but in reality a dark and mysterious individual who calculates everything beforehand as if it's a chess game. He's like a fusion between Hartnell's mysterious Doctor with Troughton's comedic trickster Doctor but with a majorly dark twist.

While I love them all, it's the 9th Doctor (Christopher Eccleston) that really breathes new life into the character. Before him, Docs 1-4 had set a certain variable standard that was repeated in mixed ways throughout the incarnations to follow. But, it was Eccleston that introduced us to an entirely new facet to the character: anxiety, guilt, and something of a death wish. He was the tortured Doctor, and only an actor of his gravitas could have pulled it off. :techman:

Fourth Doctor - Tom Baker

Ninth Doctor - Christopher Eccleston

Tenth Doctor - David Tennant

Fifth Doctor - Peter Davison

I haven't seen enough episodes of the others to really make up my mind.

David Tennant by far. Although i have a fondness for Paul McGann's portrayal after listening to a few of the audio dramas.

I have, and I know, I'm in the minority, a fondness for Doctor number 6. Costume aside, and well...some horrible stories, I really liked his gruffness, his boldness and his ego, it was such a breath of fresh air after #5...

...again...costume and stories aside....

Someone other than me voted for McCoy... I'm stunned.

That would be me:techman:

I really thought his seventh incarnation was spot on for what I thought the doctor should be like, mysterious with a silly exterior but dark, cunning personality that make you wish, he's on your side. Ironically, I mostly go for more heroic characters but I felt that seven fit the Doctor's personality quite well.

Jon Pertwee.

Then Davison, Hartnell and Troughton.

(gap)

Then Eccleston.

(larger gap)

Then T.Baker.

The rest aren't in the race, quite frankly, although of course it's difficult to judge McGann since he only had one go at it.

Tennant for me. He's the one I started with, and his portrayal has consequently shaped my image of the Doctor. After him, it's

Pertwee
Hartnell
Troughton, T.Baker, Davison
Eccleston, McGann
C.Baker, McCoy

At the moment...

Davison
Troughton
Eccleston
Tennant
Tom

The rest kinda meld togeather somewhat...but in a good way :D

Six owns the audios. Colin Baker's brilliant when they give him good scripts and a better companion.

That said, I voted for that other Baker. Ask again tomorrow and I'll vote for someone else.

Well, screw it, I'm going to say the Tenth. Tennant is a superb actor who deserves credit.

I voted for Hartnell's Doctor. In truth, my favorite Doctor would be a three way tie between Hartnell, Davison, and Eccleston.

Glad to see the Thenth (my fav) is leading, and even better to see there's the Fourth in second position, which is my second choice ;)

Tom Baker
Christopher Eccleston
Colin Baker
Patrick Troughton
William Hartnell
David Tennant
Jon Pertwee
Sylvester McCoy
Paul McGann
Peter Davison

Tom Baker will always be my favourite. Christopher Eccleston is a close second. Peter Davison will always be my least favourite. The rest move around a bit in the ranking.

I wish Eccleston had stayed for more than one season. He was my first Doctor and my favorite is Tennant mainly because he has been in it longer. Still, both doctors were very good.
