Re: My argument for a Kahn sequel... The last thing I want to see is Khan. In all honesty, Khan could take the new franchise in a very, VERY dark direction. Star Trek is about hope and while I'm not necessarily sure it would take it down that path, the "Supreme Court" would need to walk a very fine line to risk making it campy a la "Space Seed" vs. making it TOO dark. Besides, I'd like to see them go in some new directions and do something different now that they've got the origin story out of the way.
Re: My argument for a Kahn sequel... Khan would be cool. But you just know they'll bring in The Borg at some point.
Re: My argument for a Kahn sequel... We should also remember the cloning the Khan plot gave us Nemesis. It's like this movie erased it from the timeline... ;p
Re: My argument for a Kahn sequel... But if they didn't happen, why are they in the original timeline but not in this divergent timeline?
Re: My argument for a Kahn sequel... ...Madeline Khan, James Khan, the Khan-Khan Dancers of Le Moulin Rouge.
Re: My argument for a Kahn sequel... No, keep Khan away. Whats the point of making a new time line if you're going to retread old stories. Id much rather they focus on the fallout of the loss of Vulcan or what is occurring in the Laurentia system than re-hash Khan.
Re: My argument for a Khan sequel... Personally I was happy enough with the Augment trilogy that Enterprise did. Alec Newman's Malik inherited so much of Khan's DNA, his performance was eerie to watch. Abramsverse movies should look at unexploited Original Series episodes. Ones that would look even more epic redone on a feature-film budget... like The Doomday Machine clearly.
Re: My argument for a Kahn sequel... I am totally against bringing back Khan. Montalban inhabited that role like noone else and he should be entitled to take it to the grave with him. Plus, I think it extremely unlikely that a TWOK mk II would be anywhere near as successful as the original. Plus, current events have now overtaken the old backstory for the character, so to bring him back involves a new back story, which would compromise the writers' insistance that canon didn't change until the Kelvin was attacked. However, more importantly, all those of you who jizzed your jeans and said that the reboot was refreshing and necessary would make hypocrits of yourselves if you then wanted to see all the old stuff come back again. No, you got your reboot and you are happy with it. With that in mind lets see some new racesm some new worlds to explore and some new challenges. After all, what's the point in a whole new reboot that frees you up from 40 years of canon if you just go and repeat all the old stuff?
Re: My argument for a Kahn sequel... Now you are being deliberately obtuse. It is also clear that you don't really want an answer (as the answer to your question is so obvious it staggers the imagination that you would pose it at all).
Re: My argument for a Kahn sequel... While I disagree with your assessment of the new film quite a bit, on this point I am in complete agreement. I want something new, not remakes of specific movies or episodes.
Can We Have A Kahn Sequel ? I was wondering if a Kahn story would be suitable for the next movie, I think we could get bits of the TOS episode & movie in it with a new plot but can they pull off such a plot to make it PG-13 and would it not be too dark that it hinders the normal summer blockbuster feel good factor. I do think the new fans would love a J.J version of Trek's greatest TOS villian. Start the movie with a voice over talking and maybe showing bits of the Eugenic Wars and talking about Kahn. Then something alone the line of a federation ship finds the Botany Bay floating in space and then wakes up the crew by accident *cue camera panning out and screams* just something alone those lines. 48-72 hours later we could have the USS Enterprise currently at the new Vulcan homeworld get the call from Admiral Pike that Starfleet has loss contact with one of their ship's. Cue USS Enterprise finding Kahn and from there the writers can come up with a plot because thats that they get paid for Just basic outline what ya think or non Kahn sequel...Also I would want a ship capable of going up against the big E.
Re: Can We Have A Kahn Sequel ? I love Khan, but I am kinda hoping for some new characters and new stories.
Re: Can We Have A Kahn Sequel ? I hope they don't re-hash Khan. I'd like to see an all new original plot for the next film.
Re: Can We Have A Kahn Sequel ? I agree with the previous posters. Not another evil mastermind vs. Kirk story, please, and definitely not one we've already met previously. Perhaps something more... epic? (I'm not saying that they have to invent a new alien species. In fact, I'd rather they did not. But there's much to do with the Klingons, Romulans etc. without resorting to big baddies from TOS.)
Re: Can We Have A Kahn Sequel ? Hell no. I never liked him, and never will. Just think: if we're having Khan vs. Nero discussions now, imagine what would happen if we got nuKhan?
Re: Can We Have A Kahn Sequel ? One more time: It's Khan, not "Kahn." Sorry to be a nag about this, but I've been putting up with this for years now . . . . (Nothing personal, Jax. Everyone does this . . . .)
Re: Can We Have A Kahn Sequel ? I do wonder what can Trek do with the Romulans who are well just hiding away in TOS era and the Klingons who Starfleet has a weak peace and anything major enough to have as a plot would kind of have to kick off a war with the Klingons...all in a 2 hour movie ? I would hope for a fresh new lot but I do like TWOK and in this new timeline would love to see Kirk meet him under a different set of circumstances.
Re: Can We Have A Kahn Sequel ? Maybe they should bring back the Sphere Builders, or do a movie on nuFederation's first contact with the Borg.
