part but all these little canon violations and "dumbed down science (what, a planet just up and explodes, and the Feds can't navigate well enough to notice)" and the lazy production design ("so they turn the space station from ST:TMP upside down so you have to get on your knees to look out the windows?"). So help me God one guy complained about the use of the term "space shuttle" instead of "shuttlecraft" by the voice on the loudspeaker during the Kirk/Spock walk-and-talk early in the movie!

But then, that's what you get when you fire Gene Roddenberry - the Great Bird of the Galaxy - and replace him with some hack whose idea of sf is producing "The Six Million Dollar Man," right?

I hated Spock's death in WOK, but I had to admit, WOK was a great movie.

I still hate Spock's death though, so rarely watch it.

really by the time the movie was out i think there were already rumors about how they were going to bring him back.

Even as someone who has reservations about this new movie I think this is pretty hilarious and astute.

The Onion--unlike that hack, Gene Roddenberry--can do no wrong.
