NBC: Upfront, no infront, no just a list of shows

so tomorrow we were expecting the NBC infront, with the forthcoming schedule, but things have changed a now we are just getting a list of TV shows that have been renewed and what new shows will be on NBC next year.

I have a question about The Jay Leno show, assuming it is enough of a hit that NBC stick with it, will be run 50ish weeks a year (hes going to have some time off) or will he be absent during the summer months?

not sure what NBC is planning for the weekends at 10pm either, I wouldn't be too surprised if one day is a highlights show of the previous weeks The Jay Leno Show.

NikkiFinke is reporting that, Chuck, Law & Order, Medium & Parks... have been picked up.

I'd be very surprised if Leno was on more often than what he did on the Tonight Show. It definitely won't be 50 weeks or even anything close to that. It will be interesting to see if this catches on or if he'll get trounced by CBS and ABC's 10pm competition (Fox doesn't program network stuff at that time).

Hope you're right on Chuck getting renewed.

how many weeks did he do on the Tonight Show, my only experience of late night chat shows is The Daily Show, which isnt even a chat show

Yeah i swear I heard Leno would work 38-42 weeks a year, who knows. NBC probably hasn't made up their mind yet.

46 weeks a year, I dont know exactly what John Stewart does, but that is pretty much year round.

I'm really not sure how this Leno show is going to work. Is it going to be EVERY weeknight at ten? Why not just three days a week? Why not just one? Are they going to just bump up 'Law and Order' and 'Southland' to the 9 o'clock slot, or shuffle them to weekends? It seems like Leno, who I do like, might end up being a white elephant.

Either way, it's a bold experiment that will probably either be an epic success or an epic fail.

So I'm guessing 'Saturday Night Live' isn't canceled yet? :)

I assume NBC may order shorter season runs for some of its shows, and some of its shows will end up as midseason shows with a shorter run.

Leno is on every weeknight at 10 unless he's on vacation.

However John Stewart works 4 day weeks and most likely only works 40ish weeks a year, he takes at least a week off every 4-6 weeks it seems.

There really hasn't been all that much chatter about NBC's shows and their odds, considering that we find out tomorrow. Sounds like a pretty boring bunch anyway. That's okay, the more NBC shows fail, the safer that Heroes and Chuck will stay. Realistically, there's probably just another season for both, but with a dismal lineup like NBC is trotting out, I'm certainly hoping for more.

Legally Mad will probaly go to Midseason/Summer if NBC are not happy with it

personally what I like most about Upfronts is the schedule being announced, something we wont see tomorrow.

Given the limited number of timeslots, the need for half hour comedies to be grouped together, the likely competition from other networks and the fact that Friday and Saturday are for shows the networks want to kill :D I'll bet we could make some educated guesses...

I hope you're right about Parks and Recreation. I've gotten to really enjoy the show, and would hope that in time it could get better. 6 episodes really isn't enough of a first season to even find your footing.

I think it's just really funny now how much of a tight leash we (Specifically the networks) put on shows. After two episodes people want the show to be canceled, but wasn't it the case with 30 Rock that it took at least 10 episodes to really find it's footing. Didn't the writers retool the show in the middle of the season mainly because of the complaints? I understand the complaints from Parks and Rec (Such as making Poehler's character a bit of a dutz and idiot, and that her stint on SNL should give her something better than that) but since the first episode, I think the show has improved. I guess not watching the Office thus giving me no point of reference helped.

People are bitter that shows they like get cancelled, so they take it out on shows they don't like that survive.

And there's a rational reason to root for shows to be cancelled - frees up for space for attempts at new shows, some of which we might like. But I think bitterness is 90% of it.

Bit more speculation: from TV Week.

I see alot of the speculation is focusing on the same shows, which is a good thing, no big surprises tomororw, unless something is axed, like say My Name is Earl
