Lost Exclusive XI clip

One thing that was amazing, the Enterprise sailed through the O of LOST right before the clip started.

Nice. One of the many benefits of the directors/writers/producers having two shows on major networks.

Hmmm, wasn't too impressed with that, hopefully it will look better in the film.

If that was Shatner, he would have lost his shirt and drop kicked both suckas in the face.

But anyway, just the furry monster alone is miles above the hand-for-a-plant and a Tribble. One day I'd love to see the types of animals the Klingons hunt for sport; as great as tim'rous beastie and the snow spider are, Klingons laugh those off.

argh stop releasing clips!!!!!!!!!

I'm gonna have to freeze myself... oh wait Cartman did it and it went wrong.

Why does everyone always fall over when they start running? Nothing like this has ever remotely happened to anyone I know ever. Also, I am tired of seeing it in movies. Come on, it happens every time! LEARN TO RUN PROPERLY!

Anyone else notice how the clip starts with that familiar TOS planetary whistling and wind howling in the background?

Pretty f'ing neat.

The Enterprise flying out of the "O" was wickedly awesome; I saw the little flash in there beforehand and had enough time to think "what the hell was that?" before whoosh! There she was in all her jaw dropping squeee-ness!

The clip, however, showed a Kirk running and yelping in fear... For the first time since hearing talk of a new Star Trek film I felt this film may not be as good as my manic dreams have made it out to be.

Fortunately I remembered this is a Kirk who isn't yet the hero he becomes and quickly rationalized my fear into fauning praise for getting the character right...

Actually, I thought the clip was nice but a little too, "ain't our CGI snow dogs and spiders Kewl?"

Kirk has never had to run from CGI before....only lumbering rock suits.

RAMA

Well, the dude in the rock suit was really there, and shatner has been afraid of rocks since he was a boy... ...a traumatic experience with a toy catapult...

I liked the musical cues in this bit. Sorta reminded me of that one bit from the Doomsday Machine (I think) that got used over and over (Tuttut tuttut tuttut tuttut! DUD DUD!! DUD DUDUDUD!)

Good marketing though.

Targetting fans of a show about a mysterious island, where strange creatures live and scary stuff happens... by showing them a clip of Kirk in a strange ice planet, where strange creatures live and scary stuff happens.

Speaking of sound, the environmental sound effects were very nice. As a kid, I had that cassette tape of Classic Trek sound effects, and one of the first ones was that really long "alien planet" soundscape one. The new version really captures that feel while also seeming like it could be an icy, windswept wasteland.
