Critics take swips at WOLVERINE:ORIGINS

^
In the comics, Wolverine is from Canada and the Canadian government was behind Weapon X.

As far as it being a US program in the movie, there is a scene in The Incredible Hulk that alludes to that by showing the serums and I believe one had a tag showing to be from Weapon X.

That was "Weapon Plus", the project that created the Super Soldier Serum in the comics. They recently tied the two together by having "Weapon X" mean "Weapon 10" (roman numerals) and that it was the latest in a series of projects stemming from Weapon Plus.

So...The Canadian thing was just a front. Because I thought he used to work for The Canadian Military before joining The X-Men.

^He was with Alpha Flight.

And he was Special Forces before Alpha Flight.

Weapon X is Canadian, but the other past 9 projects were either American or multinational.

I knew most of the Canadian background would eventually be slowly removed. Anyone who's seen it know whether they still have him born in Canada?

Clearly this movie sucks. Watch Trek XI instead! :bolian:

Hollywood Reporter
slams terrible movie about large mutated human weasel.

Favorite line from that review:

Six years later, Logan is a lumberjack in a remote Canadian forest, though the film never clarifies whether becoming Canadian represents another mutation.
If Logan is Canadian
why the frak is he and his brother fighting in the American Civil War?

Got HIGH and were looking for WHITE CASTLE?

To escape Canadian justice they obviously flee to the US and then decide to fight in every major US conflict from the civil war to Vietnam because that is the best way to keep out of trouble and hide your mutant secret.

It's been estimated somewhere from 40 to 100K Canadians fought in the American Civil War (although that number includes, per usual Canadian citizenship criteria, individuals born there who later moved to the United States), mostly on the Union side despite the British-controlled government's Confederate sympathies (divided America = lesser political/economic rival). Some did it for the money, some did it for the 'adventure', some were gang-pressed into service, and some just hated slavery that much. These two probably just liked to fight.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

And because a number of people historically have fought in other people's wars. US citizens became members of the Lafayette Squadron during WWI and fought before the US entered the war. Others did the same, David Livingstone's son fought with the union force in the US Civil.

I've thought about the movie, but have heard less than glowing reviews of the film.

^ Going to suck, it's already out. Oh yes, those Americans have to wait.

Why don't people go watch it and make your own minds up.
I wouldn't trust a critic as much I can throw them. Anyone see the recent film In The Loop, the critics made out it was the best, funniest film ever made. Let me tell you it... was not. By a looooong way

But ah yes I forgot, it's the internet, and the fanboys make their minds up about six months before films come out

And there's a great Canadian line in the film
Where Stryker is trying to get Logan back on the team
Stryker- "Your country needs you!"
Logan- "I'm Canadian"

In X2, Stryker's Alkali Lake complex was in Canada (Alkali Lake is in north central British Columbia). So if they're showing the same room with the adamantium water tank, then it's in Alkali Lake of Canada.
