Yeah, that's the one. The phones/devices would be "beamed" into and out of the ad.

I'm sorry, but despite it still being Trek-flavored (looks like an alternate version of the Borg transporter effect) it's no golden-glitter silhouette.

I totally agree. They should have continued to use cardboard sets, construction paper graphics on the viewscreens above the bridge stations, hard candies for buttons, styrofoam rocks, cocker spaniels in furry costumes, foam rubber/paper maché, toggle switches, "tapes", analog chronometers... the list goes on.

Damn you, J.J. Abrams.

The transporter effect is ok.....not the best we've seen by any means, but ok. Besides, you have to have a lot of flashy effects these days to keep movie goer's minds from wandering.

They kept revising the tranporter effect inthe movies also- the worst was spock walking toward you in ST4 and fading into little glowing balls of light. I know they were Kilgon transporters for that one But I also kept thinking if he materialized walking would he run into a wall?
