Historical Air times

I grew up in El Centro, CA. I'm pretty sure we had cable so we'd have watched TNG on whatever network it was on at whatever time it came on.

Does anyone know what day of the week and what time TNG came on? Did it change throughout the run? I seem to recall eps being on Sundays, but Wikipedia says Mondays.

Does anyone know the rerun schedule while the series was running?

Thanks!

Gideon

TNG was syndicated. Which means it wasn't owned by any one network and ran at a specific time. TV stations had to buy the rights to show where they would then "tape" it when it came off the satellite Monday morning/Sunday night and then aired it anytime they wanted within the next week. Reruns, I believe, were ran at the stations discretion -although they could only "rerun" the current season's episodes unless they also bought the rights to rerun older episodes in syndication.

In my area TNG was aired on Monday nights at 10:30 PM on the local Fox Affiliate and re-aired on Sunday evenings. At one point in TNG's seventh season it was pushed up to 12AM following the "Chevy Chase" late night talk/variety show. Protests from viewers eventualy got it moved back to 10:30 after the CC Show failed.

DS9 was also syndicated and in my area didn't run until pretty late in the week. Sunday night a (near) full week after the affiliate would've gotten it, IIRC.

Both Voyager and Enterprise were actually "owned" by a specific network for airings - UPN, owned by Paramount which produces and owns the rights to Trek. "TOS" was also owned and aired by specific network -NBC.

Huh. Well, I would have been watching LA stations, probably. I definitely remember watching them sunday nights when they were pretty new. I also recall watching reruns on weekday afternoons. I think they ran in the mornings, too.

I imagine getting this info would be pretty difficult...

The only eps I know I saw as early as possible were the first and last.

I was watching in the SF Bay Area on Channel 44. From what I googled it was shown at 8pm on Saturday and repeated on Sunday at 10pm.

If I remember correctly TNG aired late night as new releases and then was rerun on Monday mornings at 5:00am on the Fox Affiliate.

DS9 was treated better. 11:00 pm on Thursdays with a repeat on Saturdays at 7:00.

In the UK, I fondly remember the days of Trek on BBC2: TNG 6pm Weds (and I think TOS 6pm Fri) and some years later, DS9 6pm Thurs & VOY around 7pm Sun.

I'm pretty sure at one point there was an episode of each series Monday-Thursday, with The Simpsons and Fresh Prince on Fridays.

In the early nineties, you had Thunderbirds, Stingray, Captain Scarlet and Doctor Who in the 6pm slot.

Good times!

Star Trek: The Next Generation aired on Friday nights at 9pm on WXIX-TV here in Cincinnati.

Good times indeed!

You also had Heartbreak High and the O-zone (back when everything was about the ozone layer and cfcs). Voy was also on Sunday evenings, remember those times well, especially the two parter where they go back in time.

I never watched TNG first run in the UK. I was fortunate enough to have friends in the US who would send us vhs. Even paying the expense of having them converted to PAL it still saved us months (and in some cases maybe even years) of waiting time. I do recall that Sky One in the early 90s ran TNG at 5.00 pm for years and years and years!

In Cleveland, I believe it aired on channel 43 5-7ish on Saturday, but it ended when I was slightly too young to make note of the time something came on. I do remember that DS9 came on at 6 on Saturday on 43, which put it right before UPN started its Saturday lineup with the second airing of Voyager (a good choice on 43's behalf).

All were often pre-empted by Indians baseball.

In Washington, DC, it aired on channel 20 (not a network affiliate at that time) on Saturdays at 7pm. For a year or two there, Saturday evening was a smorgasbord of SF/horror when we had TNG followed by War of the Worlds followed by Freddy's Nightmares.

Ah, the 80s....

That's right, and they also showed a lot of the ITC programmes, like The Man from UNCLE, Randall & Hopkirk, The Champions, The Avengers/New Avangers etc.

Toronto, Canada

City Tv
SAT @ 5 PM first year
Then SAT 7 PM until the end IIRC
After TNG reached the magic 100 eps needed for Syndication:
Old eps Years 1-5 Mon to Fri 7 PM NEW Eps SAT @ 7 PM

Cable: SPACE [Space The Imagination Station]
(Will have to look up )

I believe it was Saturday at 7pm. But I think it moved around several times over the years. DS9 was always aired on Fox in my area. I don't remember which day. Voyager naturally was on UPN on Wednesdays the entire run.

I used to rush home to watch Man from Uncle.

Usually Saturday nights at 7 and 8 on two different channels, then again on Sunday. WPIX or WTXF here in NJ.

I remember watching Thunderbirds with dad when we lived in England in the early 90's! That was about the only show he liked that I also liked at the same time (I didn't understand Star Trek then. I was only 2-6 years old when we lived in England! I didn't understand Thunderbirds very much either back then but at least it had puppets and colorful ships!)

Been meaning to see the Thunderbirds movie that came out a while ago but my parents weren't interested in going to see it (odd, considering how much we all liked the TV show.)
